By means of the in situ assay of deoxyribonucleases in DNA-containing polyacrylamide gels after separation by micro-disc-electrophoresis different deoxyribonucleases are detectable in bull seminal plasma. There are two groups of acid deoxyribonuclease-activities with a pH optimum at pH 5.0, one with a pH optimum at pH 7.4 and an additional one with a pH optimum at pH 8.5.

Pathophysiology of polymorphonuclear leukocyte in arterial hypertension

This review shows how polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) play a pivotal role in the development of the organ injury that is associated with arterial hypertension. Elevated white blood cell count and higher levels of PMNs activation are risk factors for arterial hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Spontaneously activated PMNs release proinflammatory factors and reactive oxygen species, which have negative effects on vascular tone and on their adhesion to the endothelium. The oxidative stress in hypertensive PMNs is revealed by increased NADPH-oxidase production and lipid peroxidation and by decreased cytosolic and mitochondrial superoxide dismutase concentrations. Breast cancer cell lines contain functional cancer stem cells with metastatic capacity and a distinct molecular signature.

Abstract Tumors may be initiated and maintained by a cellular subcomponent that displays stem cell properties. We have used the expression of aldehyde dehydrogenase as assessed by the ALDEFLUOR assay to isolate and characterize cancer stem cell (CSC) populations in 33 cell lines derived from normal and malignant mammary tissue. Twenty-three of the 33 cell lines contained an ALDEFLUOR-positive population that displayed stem cell properties in vitro and in NOD/SCID xenografts. Cladribine exerts an immunomodulatory effect on human and murine dendritic cells

Cladribine is a purine nucleoside analog developed to treat lymphoid malignancies. Reported therapeutic benefits for the autoimmune disease multiple sclerosis indicate additional immunomodulatory effects beyond the well-characterized cytotoxic activity causing lymphopenia. Here, we demonstrate that cladribine reduces the secretion of inflammatory cytokines and chemokines by murine and human dendritic cells, the most potent antigen-presenting cells. This compound also modulates the expression of the activation markers CD86 and MHC II. Total synthesis and evaluation of [18F]MHMZ.

Radiochemical labeling of MDL 105725 using the secondary labeling precursor 2-[(18)F]fluoroethyltosylate ([(18)F]FETos) was carried out in yields of approximately 90% synthesizing [(18)F]MHMZ in a specific activity of approximately 50MBq/nmol with a starting activity of approximately 3GBq. Overall radiochemical yield including [(18)F]FETos synthon synthesis, [(18)F]fluoroalkylation and preparing the injectable [(18)F]MHMZ solution was 42% within a synthesis time of approximately 100 min. The novel compound showed excellent specific binding to the 5-HT(2A) receptor (K(i)=9.0 nM) in vitro and promising in vivo characteristics.

The latest results obtained through photogrammetric restitution enhanced by GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) survey achieved increased levels of accuracy. A new oleanane glycoside from the roots ofAstragalus caprinus

A novel oleanane-type triterpene saponin (1) together with two known molecules, soyasapogenol B and astragaloside VIII were isolated from the roots of Astragalus caprinus. Their structural elucidation was performed mainly by 2D NMR techniques (COSY, TOCSY, NOESY, HSQC, HMBC) and mass spectrometry. Since type 2 diabetes (T2D) is associated with oxidative stress and metformin has been shown to exert a protective role against the said stress, we wondered whether metformin treatment might also modulate endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and autophagy in leukocytes of T2D patients.
