To support school improvement, understanding the mechanisms that enhance teachers’ engagement in professional learning activities within schools over time is paramount. The purpose of this three-wave longitudinal study is to examine the role of workplace conditions (school leaders’ vision building and teams’ shared goals), in supporting teachers’ engagement in information sharing over time. To test the directionality of the relationships between the concepts, we analyzed survey data from 655 vocational education and training teachers in the Netherlands using a cross-lagged panel model. Recent content-based image retrieval systems offer an interactive visual browsing of images databases. These methods perform a classification of images (offline) into a search tree for users browsing (online). This approach shows three main problems:1) The size of decriptor vector (n>100) makes distance computing sensitive to dimensionality curse,2) Having many different kinds of attributes into descriptor vector does not help classification,3) In general, classification does not take in consideration users' search context. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on analysoida suomalaisten yliopistojen ja niihin kuuluvien laitosten itsearviointia. Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan, miten yliopistoissa ja laitoksilla ymmärretään itsearvioinnin käsite, ”itse” toimijana sekä miten yliopistoissa ja laitoksilla rakennetaan imagoa ja identiteettiä itsearviointien avulla erilaisten yliopistoon kohdistuvien vaatimusten ristipaineessa. Tutkimuksen aineistona ovat suomalaisten yliopistojen vuosina 1993–2003 tuottamat yliopistotason itsearviointiraportit sekä laitostason toimijoille tehdyn kyselyn vastaukset. Understanding space in ephemeral organizations: contributions of commented walksThis article examines a particular type of ephemeral organization in which institutional and secular actors are connected resting upon on a strong territorial basis. Their fleeting quality is however compatible with a certain degree of permanency. The authors question the sources and resources of such permanency and insist on the role of space in coordinating collective action, and in this case, in preventing urban incivilities. They call on an unusual method, called Commented Walks, to capture the relation between such organizations and space.
