Speckle interferometry is a technique adequate to metrological problems such as the measurement of object deformation. An automatic system of analysis of such measurements is given; it consists of a motorized x-y plate positioner controlled by computer, a CCD video camera, and software for image analysis. A fringe-recognition algorithm determines the spacing and orientation of the fringes and permits the calculation of the magnitude and direction of the displacement of the analyzed object point in images with variable degrees of illumination. Image descriptors are widely adopted structures to match image features. SIFT-based descriptors are collections of gradient orientation histograms computed on different feature regions, commonly divided by using a regular Cartesian grid or a log-polar grid. In order to achieve rotation invariance, feature patches have to be generally rotated in the direction of the dominant gradient orientation. International audience; This paper presents a novel method to extract dominant motion patterns (MPs) and the main entry/exit areas from a surveillance video. The method first computes motion histograms for each pixel and then converts it into orientation distribution functions (ODFs). Given these ODFs, a novel particle meta-tracking procedure is launched which produces meta-tracks, i.e. particle trajectories. As opposed to conventional tracking which focuses on individual moving objects, meta-tracking uses particles to follow the dominant flow of the traffic. Effect of the Orientation on the Properties of Compatibilized Polypropylene/Liquid Crystal Polymer Blends

Abstract Blends of polypropylene and a semirigid liquid crystal polymer have been compatibilized with an acrylic acid modified polypropylene and with an ad-hoc synthesized graft copolymer made from polypropylene and from the monomers of the liquid crystal polymer. The two compatibilizers improve the adhesion and the mechanical properties of the two incompatible phases. The two compatibilizers give about the same results. The effect of the compatibilization improve also the orientation of the liquid crystalline polymer particles and the mechanical properties.

09024; Texte soumis à publication dans une revue à comité de lecture; Cet article revisite le débat sur la réussite scolaire des enfants d'immigrés en France, à partir du panel d'élèves entrés en 6ème en 1995 et suivis pendant dix ans. L'analyse complète des scolarités dans le secondaire, à travers les performances à l'entrée et à la fin du collège, les orientations au lycée puis les diplômes obtenus, fournit une image contrastée de ces parcours. Les élèves issus de l'immigration ont un niveau bien plus faible que les français d'origine à l'entrée en 6ème. The positioning system of the ANTARES Neutrino Telescope

The ANTARES neutrino telescope, located 40km off the coast of Toulon in the Mediterranean Sea at a mooring depth of about 2475m, consists of twelve detection lines equipped typically with 25 storeys. Every storey carries three optical modules that detect Cherenkov light induced by charged secondary particles (typically muons) coming from neutrino interactions. As these lines are flexible structures fixed to the sea bed and held taut by a buoy, sea currents cause the lines to move and the storeys to rotate. Do large firms exert power to shape the CSR behavior of their SME partners?” We answer this question by proposing a model built on the stakeholder theory and the shareholder theory, and go on to explain how this impact influences the commitment of the SME towards their large partner. The model highlights the central role that different forms of power exercised by the large firm play in the process. A survey of 291 SMEs confirms the key hypotheses, including the mediating role of reward power. The effects of coercive power are noteworthy and they illustrate the complex and competing forces at play in influencing CSR behavioral change in SMEs.
