Knowledge-building patterns in educational dialogue
2017
This study aimed to examine knowledge-building patterns in Grade 6 educational dialogues. The data consisted of 20 video-recorded lessons from the classes taught by seven teachers, selected by using a latent profile analysis and examined with a qualitative functional analysis of classroom talk. Episodes of educational dialogue were found to represent three main types of knowledge, based on facts, views and experiences. These three types were further identified as forming six diverse knowledge-building patterns in educational dialogues. The findings indicated that factual orientation dominated the Grade 6 lesson dialogues. However, factual knowledge building often occurred with the other two…
Endring av kroppsøvingsfagets motivasjonsklima og elevenes målorientering : en fireukers intervensjonsstudie i ungdoms- og videregående skole
2019
Masteroppgave idrettsvitenskap ME517 - Universitetet i Agder 2019 The purpose of this project was to investigate if the Physical Education-teacher could have animmediateeffecton the pupils’perceived motivational climate. Also,if this could impact thepupils’goal orientations.Achievement Goal Theory was used as a theoretical background for the project. The project is an intervention study, witha cross-over design. The sample consisted of202Norwegian pupils in schools located insouth of Norway. Of these,55% were boys and 45% were girls. The TARGET-model was used as a didacticaltool for structuringthe activity lessons. The intervention comprisedtwo lessonswith highego-involving climate, and two l…
Assessing Chinese Textile and Apparel Industry Business Sustainability: The Role of Organization Green Culture, Green Dynamic Capabilities, and Green…
2023
The current study aims to evaluate the role of environmental orientation (EO) on green dynamic capabilities (GDCs), organization green culture (OGC), and green innovation (GIN) toward business sustainability (BUS) in the context of Chinese textile and apparel manufacturing firms. Natural resources-based view (NRBV) and dynamic capabilities view (DCV) were used as the theoretical lenses of the research. This study is quantitative, and a purposive sampling technique was employed to collect data from the managers working in textile and apparel manufacturing firms in China. The sample size consisted of 339 managers. Partial least-square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed to ana…
How publicly quoted family business organizational behavior reflects financial crisis : a content analysis of the annual reports from 2008 to 2011
2012
The aim in this research is to analyze the strategic reactions the entrepreneurs in public traded family business take towards the global financial crisis. It is mainly based on a bilateral contextual structure: the internal context concerns the Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) five-dimension theoretical framework (Lumpkin & Dess, 1996) under family business background; the external con-text refers to the global financial crisis as a macro environment. Hence, the re-search question can be concluded as “how the entrepreneurs in large publicly traded family firm organizational behavior, named EO, reflects the global financial crisis?” Furthermore, during the analysis process, several assumpti…
Children's Temperament and Academic Skill Development During First Grade: Teachers' Interaction Styles as Mediators.
2015
The present study followed 156 Finnish children (Mage = 7.25 years) during the first grade of primary school to examine to what extent parent- and teacher-rated temperament impacts children's math and reading skill development during the first grade, and the extent to which this impact would be mediated by teachers' interaction styles with the children. The results showed that the impact of children's low task orientation and negative emotionality on their math skill development was mediated via teachers' behavioral control and, among girls, also by psychological control. The negative impact of children's inhibition on math skill development, in turn, was not mediated via teachers' interact…
Active Learning on Trust and Reciprocity for Undergraduates
2019
We propose a teaching activity aimed at promoting social values, such as trust and reciprocity, among undergraduate students in economics and related degrees. We present our pilot experience of what we call RED&ndash
Detection of rupture lines for active scanning
2007
Corner and junction detection is an important preprocessing step in image registration, data fusion, object recognition, and many other tasks. This work deals with corner and junction detection of characteristic features of the structure resulting from cross-pattern projection. The ultimate aim is to adapt the positions and orientation of the cross-pattern projections to what has been observed. The use of this projected light pattern in the framework of active vision allows us to identify certain points of interest on 3-D objects, to directly acquire a synthesis, which thus permits simplified detection, measurement, recognition, or tracking. We present detection methods for corners and junc…

The combination of local orientation collinearity and spatial frequency contrast in contour integration was studied in two experiments using a 2AFC contour detection and discrimination task. Target contours were defined by local orientation collinearity, spatial frequency contrast between contour and background elements, or both cues. Experiments differed in the source of spatial frequency contrast by manipulating the spatial frequency of either contour or background elements. Cue summation gains, defined as the performance benefit of double cue conditions over single cue conditions, were evaluated and tested against the predictions derived from probability summation and linear summation. S…
100 Years of Benham's Top in Colour Science
1995
For 100 years Benham's top has been a popular device demonstrating pattern-induced flicker colours (PIFCs). Results of early and recent investigations on PIFCs are reported and show that the phenomenon originates in phase-sensitive lateral interactions of modulated neural activity in the retina followed by additional spatial interactions in the visual cortex behind the locus of binocular fusion. Colour matches with normal colour stimuli indicate that S/(M + L) opponent neurons are involved. Dichromats do not find matching stimuli for all PIFCs. PIFCs may become useful in medical diagnosis. The phenomenon is interpreted as a side effect of a neural mechanism providing colour constancy under…
Geometric and morphologic evolution of normal fault planes and traces from 2D to 4D data
2003
Abstract The detailed 3D geometry of normal fault planes is described and analysed using datasets from outcrop studies (2D), seismic surveys (3D) and analogue models (4D). Different geometric configurations of simple isolated normal faults are studied by reference to processes of normal fault propagation. When a normal fault propagates without interacting with other fault zones, the entire border of the principal plane displays characteristic connected secondary structures. These secondary structures cause bifurcations of the principal fault terminations. The along-strike terminations of the principal plane display typical bifurcation configurations (‘ear geometry‘). The orientation of the …
