Job Resources and Work Engagement: Optimism as Moderator Among Finnish Managers

The aim of the present study was to investigate the moderating role of optimism in the relationship between job resources (organizational climate, job control) and work engagement among Finnish young managers (N = 747). Hierarchical regression analyses showed that both job resources and optimism exerted a positive effect on work engagement and its three dimensions of vigor, dedication, and absorption. The moderation results showed that optimism can diminish the negative impact of low job resources on work engagement. This research investigated the congruence between the ideologies of political parties and the ideological preferences (N = 1515), moral intuitions (N = 1048), and political values and worldviews (N = 1345) of diverse samples of Swedish adults who voted or intended to vote for the parties. Logistic regression analyses yielded support for a series of hypotheses about variations in ideology beyond the left-right division. Dialogi ekumeniczne pokazują, że w prawie każdym Kościele chrześcijańskim wyobrażenia o jedności są różne. Z problemem braku jednej wizji jedności łączy się drugi – brak jednego pojęcia Kościoła, a przynajmniej brak takiego jego rozumienia, które byłoby akceptowane przez wszystkich chrześcijan. Kiedy w 1908 r. w Cieszowej, jednej z najstarszych gmin żydowskich na Górnym Śląsku, wystawiono budynki rozwiązanego kahału do licytacji, ks. Karl Urban (1864-1923), proboszcz parafii św. Józefa w Sadowie, do której należała również i sama Cieszowa, z własnych środków zakupił synagogę wraz z zabudowaniami, chroniąc je w ten sposób od nieuchronnej likwidacji. Cieszowa była jedną z czterech wiosek na Górnym Śląsku, w których kazano zamieszkać Żydom w czasie pruskich zakazów osiedleńczych, wydawanych w latach 70. i 80. XVIII w. A careful observation of changes happening in ways and styles of life in societies of late modernity shows limitations resulting from the Enlightenment museum discourse.
