High-resolution rovibrational spectroscopy of c-C3H2+: The ν7 C–H antisymmetric stretching band

2020

Abstract The ν 7 antisymmetric C–H stretching fundamental of c- C 3 H 2 + has been characterized in a cryogenic 22-pole ion trap by a novel type of action spectroscopy, in which the rovibrational excitation of c- C 3 H 2 + is detected as a slowing down of the low-temperature reaction c- C 3 H 2 +  + H2 → C 3 H 3 + + H. Ninety-one rovibrational transitions with partly resolved fine structure doublets were measured in high resolution. Supported by high-level quantum chemical calculations, spectroscopic parameters were determined by fitting the observed lines with an effective Hamiltonian for an asymmetric rotor in a doublet electronic ground state, X ˜ A 1 2 , yielding a band origin at 3113.6…

Total Synthesis of Stemoamide, 9a-epi-Stemoamide, and 9a,10-epi-Stemoamide: Divergent Stereochemistry of the Final Methylation Steps

2020

Total syntheses of stemoamide, 9a-epi-stemoamide, and 9a,10-epi-stemoamide by a convergent A + B ring-forming strategy is reported. The synthesis required a diastereoselective late-stage methylation of the ABC stemoamide core that successfully enabled access to three of the four possible diastereomeric structures. For the natural stemoamide series, the diastereoselectivity can be rationalized both by kinetic and thermodynamic arguments, whereas for the natural 9a-epi-stemoamide series, the kinetic selectivity is explained by the prepyramidalization of the relevant enolate.

Total Synthesis of (±)-Scopolamine: Challenges of the Tropane Ring

2016

Scopolamine was synthesized using 6,7-dehydrotropine as a key intermediate. Rhodium-catalyzed [4 + 3] cycloaddition chemistry and a modified Robinson–Schopf reaction were each independently evaluated for their utility in constructing the tropane core. Both synthetic approaches gave comparable overall yields.

Montanacin-L and montanacin-K two previously non-described acetogenins from Annona montana twigs and leaves

2020

A phytochemical study on Annona montana twigs and leaves led to the isolation of eleven annonaceous acetogenins, including two previously non-described compounds, montanacin-L and montanacin-K. Their structures were elucidated by extensive analyses of spectroscopic data (IR, UV, HRTOFMS, EI-MS and 1H, 13C and 2D NMR). The ACGs montanacin-L, montanacin-K, montanacin-D and montanacin-E were evaluated for their toxicity against Spodoptera frugiperda Smith (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). Results revealed that montanacin-D and montanacin-K exhibited insecticide action. Fil: Ruiz Hidalgo, José. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas. Strecker reactions with hexacyanoferrates as non-toxic cyanide sources

2019

The Strecker reaction is the most widely applied three-component reaction. Although highly useful for the preparation of α-amino nitriles, α-amino acids, hydantoins and numerous related compounds, the need for the application of toxic sources of HCN limits its application in both academic and industrial settings. Here, we present a facile protocol for Strecker reactions using a mixture of potassium ferri- and ferrocyanides as a non-toxic substitute.

Herbicidal value of essential oils from oregano-like flavour species

2017

ABSTRACTChemical composition and phytotoxicity of oregano, marjoram and Thymus mastichina essential oils against Portulaca oleracea L., Lolium multiflorum Lam. and Echinochloa crus-galli (L.) Beauv. has been investigated. Seventy-seven compounds reaching 97.3% and 99.4% were identified by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. Carvacrol (60.42 ± 0.07%), p-cymene (15.52 ± 0.02%) and γ-terpinene (5.19 ± 0.02%) were the main compounds in oregano essential oil, whereas large amounts of 1,8-cineol (59.59 ± 0.85%, 49.49 ± 0.37%), linalool (13.05 ± 0.04%, 5.66 ± 0.01%) and α-terpineol (3.36 ± 0.10%, 5.59 ± 0.01%), followed by β-pinene (4.35 ± 0.39, 5.54 ± 0.01%) and α-pinene (4.11 ± 0.53, 4.28 ± 0.…

The hetero-cubane structures of the heavy alkali metal tert-amyloxides [MOCMe2Et]4 (M = K, Rb, Cs)

2018

A series of alkali metal (Li–Cs) alkoxides of tert-pentanol (1,1-dimethylpropan-1-ol) have been prepared by reaction of the corresponding metal with the alcohol in n-hexane or n-heptane. The compounds were purified by vacuum sublimation and crystallised in n-hexane to produce crystals suitable for single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The structures of the potassium, rubidium, and caesium compounds revealed tetrameric units with additional intra- and intermolecular interactions between the metal atom and alkoxide methyl groups, increasing with the size of the metal involved.

Total Synthesis of (-)-Oxycodone via Anodic Aryl-Aryl Coupling.

2019

A fully regio- and diastereoselective electrochemical 4a–2′-coupling of a 3′,4′,5′-trioxygenated laudanosine derivative enables the synthesis of the corresponding morphinandienone. This key intermediate is further transformed into (−)-oxycodone through conjugate nucleophilic substitution for E-ring closure and [4 + 2] cycloaddition with photogenerated singlet oxygen to accomplish diastereoselective hydroxylation at C-14. The anodic transformation provides high yields and can be performed under constant current conditions both in a simple undivided cell or in continuous flow.
