Displaying morally responsible motherhood : lone mothers accounting for work during non-standard hours

This study examined how lone mothers rationalise their work during non-standard hours (e.g., evenings and weekends), which they perceive as problematic in terms of child wellbeing, and thereby as violating the culturally shared moral order of ‘good’ motherhood. The data comprise interviews with 16 Finnish lone mothers, analysed as accounts, with a special focus on their linguistic features. The mothers displayed morally responsible motherhood through: (1) excusing work during non-standard hours as an external demand; (2) appealing to an inability to act according to good mothering ideals; (3) using adaptive strategies to protect child wellbeing; and (4) challenging the idea of risk. Rozważania pokazują, pod jakimi względami los determinuje zachowanie bohaterów baśni. Jednocześnie artykuł omawia, w jakim stopniu to magia wpływa na życie postaci we wspomnianych historiach. Całość zmierza do wyznaczenia pewnych typów baśni, w których to los, rozumiany jako nagły obrót wypadków na drodze życiowej bohatera, bądź ciążące nad nim fatum odgrywają zasadnicze znaczenie.

Analizie zostały poddane angielskie, brazylijskie, polskie, tureckie oraz japońskie wydania baśni napisanej pierwotnie w języku niemieckim. Praca skupia się na analizie prawdziwego imienia tytułowego skrzata oraz imion wymienianych przez baśniową królową. Artykuł zawiera pięć analiz opisujących onomastyczne aspekty przekładu oraz zastosowane techniki tłumaczeniowe. Four Quadrant Switch Based Multiple-Input DC-DC Converter

In this paper, a novel non-isolated multiple input dc-dc converter (MIC) is proposed. The MIC uses four-quadrant switches, only one inductor and capacitor. It is capable of bidirectional operation in non-inverting buck-boost configuration and can accommodate the simultaneous transfer of energy from more than one source of different voltage levels to the DC bus. This MIC is analysed for two inputs in this paper. As compared to existing MICs in literature, the proposed converter utilizes less number of inductors and requires only one switch to integrate any extra energy storage.
