Stress concentration for closely located inclusions in nonlinear perfect conductivity problems

We study the stress concentration, which is the gradient of the solution, when two smooth inclusions are closely located in a possibly anisotropic medium. The governing equation may be degenerate of $p-$Laplace type, with $1<p \leq N$. We prove optimal $L^\infty$ estimates for the blow-up of the gradient of the solution as the distance between the inclusions tends to zero.

Abstract In this paper we find the Euler–Lagrange equation for the anisotropic least gradient problem inf { ∫ Ω ϕ ( x , D u ) : u ∈ B V ( Ω ) , u | ∂ Ω = f } being ϕ a metric integrand and f ∈ L 1 ( ∂ Ω ) . We also characterize the functions of ϕ -least gradient as those whose boundary of the level set is ϕ -area minimizing in Ω .
A class of shear deformable isotropic elastic plates with parametrically variable warping shapes

A homogeneous shear deformable isotropic elastic plate model is addressed in which the normal transverse fibers are allowed to rotate and to warp in a physically consistent manner specified by a fixed value of a real non-negative warping parameter ω. On letting ω vary continuously (at fixed load and boundary conditions), a continuous family of shear deformable plates Pω is generated, which spans from the Kirchhoff plate at the lower limit ω=0, to the Mindlin plate at the upper limit ω=∞; for ω=2, Pω identifies with the third-order Reddy plate. ABSTRACT We reported previously on the function of acyl coenzyme A (acyl-CoA) oxidase isozymes in the yeast Yarrowia lipolytica by investigating strains disrupted in one or several acyl-CoA oxidase-encoding genes ( POX1 through POX5 ) (H. Wang et al., J. Bacteriol. 181:5140–5148, 1999). Here, these mutants were studied for lactone production. Monodisrupted strains produced similar levels of lactone as the wild-type strain (50 mg/liter) except for Δ pox3 , which produced 220 mg of γ-decalactone per liter after 24 h. Despite these advancements, significant obstacles still prevent comprehensive assessments of the environmental risks associated with the presence of CECs. Rotation of methyl radicals in a solid krypton matrix

Electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements were carried out to study the rotation of methyl radicals (CH(3)) in a solid krypton matrix at 17-31 K temperature range. The radicals were produced by dissociating methane by plasma bursts generated by a focused 193 nm excimer laser radiation during the krypton gas condensation on the substrate. The ESR spectrum exhibits only isotropic features at the temperature range examined, and the intensity ratio between the symmetric (A) and antisymmetric (E) spin state lines exhibits weaker temperature dependence than in a solid argon matrix. Data from a ten years (2003-2013) period of activity of the ISAC-Lecce micrometeorological station have been discussed focusing on the atmosphere-surface exchange.
