Speciation of selenium and tellurium in milk by hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry

A simple, fast and highly sensitive method has been developed for the differentiation of Se and Te into their (IV) and (VI) oxidation states in milk samples by HG-AFS. This procedure involves a previous leaching of milk slurries by sonication with aqua regia for 10 min. Se(IV) and Te(IV) were determined by analysis of the samples without a pre-reduction step; being total Se and Te determined after reduction with KBr. The method provides limit of detection values (LOD) of 0.012 and 0.023 ng ml−1 for Se(IV) and Te(IV) respectively. Oxidation of adrenaline and noradrenaline by solved molecular oxygen in a FIA assembly.

A simple and effective procedure is proposed for the study and simultaneous determination of adrenaline and noradrenaline. The fluorimetric determination of both substances is performed in a flow injection assembly and by oxidation of both drugs with the solved molecular oxygen. The influence of different parameters is empirically studied and the interpretation of the reaction mechanism is also added. The determination of adrenaline is monitored at 450 nm and the outputs at 520 nm correspond to the adrenaline and noradrenaline global amount; for both lectures lambda(exc) 329 nm. High spatial resolution analysis of the iron oxidation state in silicate glasses using the electron probe

The iron oxidation state in silicate melts is important for understanding their physical properties, although it is most often used to estimate the oxygen fugacity of magmatic systems. Often high spatial resolution analyses are required, yet the available techniques, such as μrXANES and μMössbauer, require synchrotron access. A bioluminescence technique for quantitative and structure-associated imaging of pyruvate

A novel bioluminescence assay has been developed for measuring pyruvate within sections of snap-frozen tissue in a quantitative manner as well as with a spatial resolution on a microscopical level. The assay was verified via HPLC and two independent photometric tests. The novel assay makes it possible to determine pyruvate concentrations in cryosections in the range of 0-5.0 micromol/g tissue (dry weight). Based on the analysis of samples of given pyruvate concentrations, the assay exhibits a recovery with a deviationor =15%. Hepatic metabolism of diclofenac: role of human CYP in the minor oxidative pathways.

The aim of this study was to re-examine the human hepatic metabolism of diclofenac, with special focus on the generation of minor hydroxylated metabolites implicated in the idiosyncratic hepatotoxicity of the drug. Different experimental approaches were used: human hepatocytes, human microsomes, and engineered cells expressing single human CYP (cytochromes P450). Human hepatocytes formed 3'-hydroxy-, 4'-hydroxy-, 5-hydroxy- 4',5-dihydroxy-, and N,5-dihydroxydiclofenac, as well as several lactams. Influence of substrate oxidation on the reward system, no role of dietary fibre.

International audience; It has been suggested that a high intake of dietary fibre helps regulate energy intake and satiety. The present study aimed to examine whether dietary fibre influenced the liking and wanting components of the food reward system, the metabolic state or subsequent intake. Five sessions involving 32 normal-weight subjects (16 men and 16 women, 30.6 ± 7.6 year) were held. The sessions differed in the composition of the bread eaten during breakfasts (dietary fibre content varied from 2.4 to 12.8 g/100 g). trans-4-Bromo-ONN-azoxybenzene at 100 K.

The crystal structure of the alpha isomer of trans-4-bromoazoxybenzene [systematic name: trans-1-(bromophenyl)-2-phenyldiazene 2-oxide], C(12)H(9)BrN(2)O, has been determined by X-ray diffraction. The geometries of the two molecules in the asymmetric unit are slightly different and are within approximately 0.02 A for bond lengths, approximately 2 degrees for angles and approximately 3 degrees for torsion angles. The azoxy bridges in both molecules have the typical geometry observed for trans-azoxybenzenes. The crystal network contains two types of planar molecules arranged in columns. The torsion angles along the Ar-N bonds are only 7 (2) degrees, on either side of the azoxy group.

The periodic change of the oxidation state of the metal catalyst in the oscillating Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction has been reported to establish a periodic organization of metallo-supramolecular bonds in polymeric systems, which results in autonomous viscosity oscillations. To appraise the possible extent of quantitative control on the viscosity oscillation features, we assess how the kinetics of the BZ reaction affects the periodic self-organization of the metal-ligand coordination, and vice versa. Abstract The heterogeneous oxidation of benzenethiol catalyzed by the dianionic bis(2-sulfanyl-2,2-diphenylethanoxycarbonyl) dioxomolybdate (VI) complex intercalated into a Zn(II)–Al(III) layered double hydroxide (LDH) host have been investigated under aerobic conditions. The kinetics of the system has been analysed in detail. In ethanol, the benzenethiol is cleanly oxidized to diphenyl disulfide in the acidic media provided by the protonic resin Amberlite IR-120(H).
