Four new triphenyltin(IV) complexes of composition Ph 3SnLH (where LH = 2-/4-[(E)-2-(aryl)-1-diazenyl]benzoate) (1-4) were synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic ( 1H, 13C and 119Sn NMR, IR, 119Sn Mössbauer) techniques in combination with elemental analysis. The 119Sn NMR spectroscopic data indicate a tetrahedral coordination geometry in non-coordinating solvents. The crystal structures of three complexes, Ph 3SnL 1H (1), Ph 3SnL 3H (3), Ph 3SnL 4H (4), were determined. All display an essentially tetrahedral geometry with angles ranging from 93.50(8) to 124.5(2)°; 119Sn Mössbauer spectral data support this assignment. A Molecular Electron Density Theory Study of the Synthesis of Spirobipyrazolines through the Domino Reaction of Nitrilimines with Allenoates

The reaction of diphenyl nitrilimine (NI) with methyl 1-methyl-allenoate yielding a spirobipyrazoline has been studied within molecular electron density theory (MEDT) at the MPWB1K/6-311G(d) computational level in dichloromethane. This reaction is a domino process that comprises two consecutive 32CA reactions with the formation of a pyrazoline intermediate. Analysis of the relative Gibbs free energies indicates that both 32CA reactions are highly regioselective, the first one being also completely chemoselective, in agreement with the experimental outcomes. Competitive interaction of three peroxidizing herbicides with the binding of 3H acifluorfen to corn etioplast membranes

AbstractThe specific binding of the herbicide acifluorfen 5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoic acid to corn etioplast membranes is competitively inhibited by protoporphyrinogen IX, the substrate of protoporphyrinogen oxidase. Three other peroxidizing molecules, oxadiazon [5-ter-butyl-3-(2,4-dichloro-5-isopropoxyphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-one], LS 82556 [(S)3-N-(methylbenzyl)carbamoyl-5-propionyl-2,6-lutidine], and M&B 39279 [5-amino-4-cyano-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)pyrazol], also compete with acifluorfen for its binding site. The four herbicides thus bind to the same site, or to closely located sites, on the enzyme protoporphyrinogen oxidase.

Perceptual blending in odor mixtures depends on the nature of odorants and human olfactory expertise.

International audience; Our olfactory system is confronted with complex mixtures of odorants, often recognized as single entities due to odor blending (e.g., coffee). In contrast, we are also able to discriminate odors from complex mixtures (e.g., off-odors). The rate constants for the epoxidation of cis-2-heptene with [2-percarboxyethyl]-functionalized silica (1a) and meta-chloroperbenzoic acid (mCPBA) (1b) in different solvents have been determined at temperatures in the −10 to 40 °C range. The heterogeneous epoxidation exhibits a dependence of the reaction rate on solvent polarity opposite to its homogeneous counterpart and anomalous activation parameters in n-hexane, which are interpreted in terms of the surface-promoted solvent structure at the solid–liquid interface. The results show that highly polar solvents can strongly inhibit heterogeneous reactions performed with silica-supported reagents or catalysts.

Abstract This study addresses the hydrodynamics and mass transfer characterisation of a Higee bioreactor (HBR) for application to polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) production from Pseudomonas putida KT2442 fermentation. The motivation for this work is to address the potential oxygen transfer limitations which can severely impede the progress of this aerobic fermentation process and reduce PHA productivity in conventional bioreactors. Primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by isolated thrombocytopenia (platelet count <100 × 109/l) in the absence of other causes or disorders associated.
