Safety profile of the interleukin-1 inhibitors anakinra and canakinumab in real life clinical practice: a nationwide multicenter retrospective observ…
2018
A few studies have reported the safety profile of interleukin (IL)-1 blockers from real life. The aim of this study is to describe anakinra (ANA) and canakinumab (CAN) safety profile in children and adults, based on data from a real-life setting. Demographic, clinical, and therapeutic data from patients treated with ANA and CAN were retrospectively collected and analyzed. Four hundred and seventy five patients were enrolled; ANA and CAN were prescribed in 421 and 105 treatment courses, respectively. During a mean follow-up of 24.39 ± 27.04 months, 89 adverse events (AE) were recorded; 13 (14.61%) were classified as serious AE (sAE). The overall estimated rate of AE and sAE was 8.4 per 100 p…

The authors regret that errors were present in the above article. On page 1174, in the second paragraph of the Statistical methods section, the second sentence should read as follows: The incidence of difficult intubation was determined including those whose tracheas were already intubated and is reported as a percentage with a 95% exact binomial CI. On page 1175, in the third paragraph of the Statistical methods section ‘mean standardised difference (MSD)’ should read ‘standardised mean difference (SMD)’ The authors would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Lessons Learned from the German Registry for Acute Aortic Dissection Type A (GERAADA) and Expectations for the Future
2014
The German Registry for Acute Aortic Dissection type A (GERAADA) is a prospective observational clinical multicenter registry that was launched in 2006. With more than 2,500 patients included from over 50 recruiting centers it is—to our knowledge—the most representative register for acute aortic dissection type A (AADA) currently available. We examined mortality and post-operative events as well as the influence of various pre- and intraoperative factors on these endpoints. Among patients registered, 30-day mortality is 15.9 %. 13.4 % of patients experienced postoperatively a new neurological deficit and a total of 10.5 % of patients suffered from permanent neurological impairment 30 days a…
Clinical correlates of paliperidone palmitate and aripiprazole monohydrate prescription for subjects with schizophreniaspectrum disorders: Findings f…
2020
This study, based on the 'Servizi Territoriali Associati per la Ricerca' (STAR) Network Depot Study nationwide baseline data, explored whether individual symptoms severity and clusters might influence the prescription of paliperidone palmitate 1-month (PP1M) vs. aripiprazole monohydrate. The Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS) was used to assess psychopathology and relevant symptoms clusters. Drug Attitude Inventory, 10 items, was used to test attitude towards medications. Adherence to treatments was rated according to the Kemp seven-point scale. We assessed for eligibility 451 individuals and, among them, we included 195 subjects (n = 117 who started PPM1 and n = 78 aripiprazole monohydr…
PATRONES DIFERENCIALES ENTRE PADRES Y PROFESORADO EN LA DETECCIÓN DE TDAH
2015
INTRODUCTION . The diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity (ADHD) has increased in recent years. The criteria for ADHD have become clearer in the scientific community. However, it is a complex disorder that requires the participation of a multidisciplinary team for an appropriate diagnosis. METHOD . Taking as a sample (N = 331) 6 to 9 year-old students from Cuenca, this study analyzed the existence of differential patterns between the two ratings, using the EMA-D.D.A. Scales (Garcia-Perez y Magaz, 2006). Different approaches to hypothesis testing are used, and the internal consistency of the scales is valued. RESULTS . The differences observed suggest differential influen…
Designing motion-based activities to engage students with autism in classroom settings
2015
We report on a nine-month-long observational study with teachers and students with autism in a classroom setting. We explore the impact of motion-based activities on students' behavior. In particular, we examine how the playful gaming activity impacted students' engagement, peer-directed social behaviors, and motor skills. We document the effectiveness of a collaborative game in supporting initiation of social activities between peers, and in eliciting novel body movements that students were not observed to produce outside of game play. We further identify the positive impact of game play on overall classroom engagement. This includes an "audience effect" whereby non-playing peers direct in…
Non-pharmacological measures implemented in the setting of long-term care facilities to prevent SARS-CoV-2 infections and their consequences: a rapid…
2021
Background Starting in late 2019, COVID-19, caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, spread around the world. Long-term care facilities are at particularly high risk of outbreaks, and the burden of morbidity and mortality is very high among residents living in these facilities. Objectives To assess the effects of non-pharmacological measures implemented in long-term care facilities to prevent or reduce the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 infection among residents, staff, and visitors. Search methods On 22 January 2021, we searched the Cochrane COVID-19 Study Register, WHO COVID-19 Global literature on coronavirus disease, Web of Science, and CINAHL. We also conducted backward citation searche…
Analysis of the Impact of Disease Acceptance, Demographic, and Clinical Variables on Adherence to Treatment Recommendations in Elderly Type 2 Diabete…
2021
This project aimed to analyze the impact of disease acceptance and selected demographic and clinical factors on the adherence to treatment recommendations in elderly type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. The observational study was performed using standardized research questionnaires: the Acceptance of Illness Scale (AIS), the Self-Care of Diabetes Inventory (SCODI), and the Adherence in Chronic Diseases Scale (ACDS). Two hundred patients with T2DM were studied (age M = 70.21 years, SD = 6.63 years). The median degree of disease acceptance was 29 (min–max = 8–40) and the median level of adherence was 24 (min–max = 13–28). Disease acceptance was a significant (p = 0.002) independent predictor o…
Are older patients with diabetes still being overtreated in French long-term care homes?
2020
Abstract Background Diabetes management has not been evaluated in French nursing homes (NHs) for 10 years. Objectives The present study aimed to compare the management of diabetes with guidelines in older patients living in NHs. Design Observational, retrospective and multicentre study carried out in 13 NH in the Cote d’Or region of France. Settings and subjects Between January and June 2018, all NH residents older than 65 years and known to have diabetes (n = 148) were included. Methods Epidemiological, clinical and biological data and diabetes characteristics were collected from the medical records. Results The average glycated haemoglobin (HbA1C) was 7.2 ± 1.2%. In total, 51% of patients…
Similar effectiveness of dapagliflozin and GLP-1 receptor agonists concerning combined endpoints in routine clinical practice: A multicentre retrospe…
2019
Abstract Aims According to cardiovascular outcome trials, some sodium‐glucose contransporter‐2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) and glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1RA) are recommended for secondary cardiovascular prevention in type 2 diabetes (T2D). In this real‐world study, we compared the simultaneous reductions in HbA1c, body weight and systolic blood pressure after initiation of dapagliflozin or GLP‐1RA as second or a more advanced line of therapy. Materials and methods DARWIN‐T2D was a retrospective multi‐centre study conducted at diabetes specialist clinics in Italy that compared T2D patients who initiated dapagliflozin or GLP‐1RA (exenatide once weekly or liraglutide). Data were c…
