Personal Social Networks of Community-Dwelling Oldest Old During the Covid-19 Pandemic—A Qualitative Study
2021
The COVID-19 pandemic and its related restrictions have affected the everyday life of older people. Advanced age is a significant predisposing factor for a more severe COVID-19 infection, increasing the risk for hospitalization and mortality. Even though restrictions have been, thus, well-grounded, they may also have had detrimental effects on the social well-being of older people. Personal networks and social activity are known protective factors against the premature decline in health and functioning, and it is widely acknowledged that social isolation increases feelings of loneliness, poor quality of life, and even the risk for diseases and disabilities among older adults. This qualitati…
Towards a New System for the Assessment of the Quality in Care Pathways: An Overview of Systematic Reviews.
2020
Clinical or care pathways are developed by a multidisciplinary team of healthcare practitioners, based on clinical evidence, and standardized processes. The evaluation of their framework/content quality is unclear. The aim of this study was to describe which tools and domains are able to critically evaluate the quality of clinical/care pathways. An overview of systematic reviews was conducted, according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses, using Medline, Embase, Science Citation Index, PsychInfo, CINAHL, and Cochrane Library, from 2015 to 2020, and with snowballing methods. The quality of the reviews was assessed with Assessment the Methodology of Systemati…
Analysis of the determinants of entrepreneurial intention: the case of Burkina Faso
2018
International audience; In this study, we propose to analyze students' entrepreneurial intention, drawing on Lazear's (2004) self-selection model. This model captures the role of "human capital" in employment assignment and emphasizes the importance of the variety of skills in the individual's entrepreneurial orientation. For this purpose, we have a database collected in 2017 from over 1000 students at Ouaga I and Ouaga II universities in Burkina Faso. The results of estimates obtained using the quantile regression method show a positive and significant effect of the diversity of skills on the intention score, mainly at the median level. Even if the effect is not strong, this result support…
Measurement of Physical Fitness and 24/7 Physical Activity, Standing, Sedentary Behavior, and Time in Bed in Working-Age Finns : Study Protocol for F…
2022
Background: Population studies gathering measured data on fitness and physical behavior, covering physical activity, standing, sedentary behavior, and time in bed, are scarce. This article describes the protocol of the FINFIT 2021 study that measures fitness and physical behavior in a population-based sample of adults and analyzes their associations and dose–response relationships with several health indicators. Methods: The study comprises a stratified random sample of 20–69-year-old men and women (n = 16,500) from seven city-centered regions in Finland. Physical behavior is measured 24/7 by tri-axial accelerometry and analyzed with validated MAD-APE algorithms. Health and fitness examinat…
Land-use changes in an agro-pastoral area (Djougou, Benin) from Landsat archive images (1984 and 2012): a regressive approach combining remote sensin…
2018
Extended abstract:The vegetation of the district of Djougou is affected by large changes due to tree logging, crop field clearing and grazing by increasing numbers of livestock. The dynamics of the landscape is analyzed with a time series of Landsat satellite images (1984-2012). A regressive approach, exploiting the field observations and semi-structured interviews conducted in 2012-2013 in the Bakou-Wewe territory, documents the evolution of land use and facilitates the analysis of Landsat images. An original procedure targets the building of Region of interest (ROIs) for the historic images for which no available field observations exists. The study area is located in central Benin (Plate…
Associations between adolescents’ energy drink consumption frequency and several negative health indicators
2023
Abstract Background The purpose of this study was to identify how various negative health indicators are associated with energy drink consumption frequency among 13- and 15-year-old Finnish adolescents. Methods Data (N = 2429) from the nationally representative international Health Behaviour in School-aged Children study (2018) were analyzed via descriptive analysis and logistic regression analyses, with control for salient covariates. Relative risks (RR) were derived from the adjusted odds ratios. Results Even infrequent energy drink consumption was associated with various negative health indicators. Moreover, as compared to non-users, frequent energy drink consumers were more likely to re…
Intrarater Reliability and Analysis of Learning Effects in the Y Balance Test
2023
While the general reliability of the Y balance test has been previously found to be excellent, earlier reviews highlighted a need for a more consistent methodology between studies. The purpose of this test–retest intrarater reliability study was to assess the intrarater reliability of the YBT using different methodologies regarding normalisation for leg length, number of repetitions, and score calculation. Sixteen healthy adult novice recreational runners aged 18–55 years, both women and men, were reviewed in a laboratory environment. Mean calculated scores, intraclass correlation coefficient, standard error of measurement, and minimal detectable change were calculated and analysed between …
Test−Retest Reliability of Isokinetic Ankle, Knee and Hip Strength in Physically Active Adults Using Biodex System 4 Pro
2023
Background: The isokinetic dynamometry is considered a gold standard in muscle strength testing. The reliability of lower limb isokinetic strength measurements has not been thoroughly evaluated. Objective: To examine the test−retest reliability of isokinetic ankle plantar and dorsiflexion, ankle inversion and eversion, knee extension and flexion and hip abduction and adduction strength in physically active adults using Biodex System 4 Pro. Methods: Peak torques (PTs) and average peak torques (APTs) of the dominant and nondominant lower limbs were tested twice in 19 physically active adults 7 to 14 days apart. Results: The intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) values varied from excellen…
Thèse : L'intégration de l'environnement au droit de l'électricité. Vers le renouvellement d'un service public.
2012
Equality, continuity and adaptability. Foundations of the right of the public utilities, Rolland laws apply vigorously to the public service for electricity, where activities did not change since the advent of the « electricity fairy ». It is always about producing, transporting, distributing and supplying electricity, respecting the general interest. Nevertheless, the legal framework applicable to these activities is under a dramatic transition, stemming from the will of the European Union to create a single market for electricity. These changes incrementally drive to a shift of the public utility, basically socially oriented, to more and more demanding and diversified economic objectives.…
Research on Service-Learning in Physical Activity and Sport: Where We Have Been, Where We Are, Where We Are Going
2022
Higher education is under constant transformation through the use of new pedagogical models such as university service-learning (SL). Indeed, there has been an exponential uptake of university SL, among others, in the field of physical activity and sport (PAS) along with research examining these practices. However, these initiatives highlight the need to improve the quality of research in this field. This paper presents a systematic review focused on how research in this arena has been carried out, examining the following topics: paradigm, methods, instruments, discipline, limitations, and further research. A total of 45 articles met the inclusion criteria. The results show that qualitative…
