Tetrapod footprint ichno-associations from French Permian basins. Comparisons with other Euramerican ichnofaunas.
2006
21 pages; In order to take into account the studies of the European and American (USA) collections carried out by one of the authors, and of the recent nomenclatural revisions from new footprint discoveries, which have occurred during the last decade, the authors present a critical review of the French Permian palichnofauna. The distribution of the ichnospecies in the stratigraphy of the Lodève Basin, taken as a reference, is outlined. The ichno-associations are then compared with those of other French (Provence), European (Italy, Germany) and USA basins. Based on the ages of different ichnofossiliferous formations, three successive ichnofaunal units can be distinguished in the Permian of E…
Enzyme recovery and fouling mitigation by ultrasound-enhanced ultrafiltration
2013
Abstract The development of second-generation biofuels from cellulosic/lignocellulosic biomass has advantages from energy and environmental aspects, but the overall cost of the process is mainly dependent on the cost of the enzymes. Enzyme recovery and recycling is one of the most important and effective means of increasing the efficiency of enzymatic hydrolysis processes by lowering the enzyme costs. The primary objective of this study was to investigate the possibilities of enzyme recovery by membrane separation. Ultrafiltration (UF) membranes with various cut-off values and materials were used to recycle cellulase and cellobiase in model solutions and cellulosic hydrolysates. The membran…

A non-linear stochastic approach of ligaments and tendons fractional-order hereditariness
2020
Abstract In this study the non-linear hereditariness of knee tendons and ligaments is framed in the context of stochastic mechanics. Without losing the possibility of generalization, this work was focused on knee Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and the tendons used in its surgical reconstruction. The proposed constitutive equations of fibrous tissues involves three material parameters for the creep tests and three material parameters for relaxation tests. One-to-one relations among material parameters estimated in creep and relaxations were established and reported in the paper. Data scattering, observed with a novel experimental protocol used to characterize the mechanics of the tissue, w…
Vers une approche globale de l'évolution des Hominidés
1998
Abstract Two models of diversification of the common ancestor of gorillas, chimpanzees and men can be proposed on the basis of the distribution of chromosomal rearrangements in extant species and reconsideration of the role played by climate. The small genetic divergence between chimpanzees and humans is greatly amplified at the morphological level, thus constituting the ‘human paradox’. This paradox is resolved by the economical and flexible evolutionary mechanism of mutations in regulator genes and the heterochronies they control, which are the true internal clocks of evolution. Changes in cranial morphology are quantified and used to analyse and explain the steps in the transition from g…

Identifying the characteristics of China’s maritime trading partners on the basis of bilateral shipping connectivity: a cluster analysis
2021
China is ranked as the number one maritime connected country in the world. This study attempts to analyse the characteristics of its 155 maritime trading partners. Five components of maritime conne...
HEALTH BEHAVIORS OF UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS: A COMPARISON OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND TECHNICAL FACULTIES
2016
INTRODUCTION: A healthy lifestyle is related to healthy practices, such as healthy diet, avoidance of psychoactive stimulants, appropriate level of physical activity, preventive behaviors, coping with stress, positive social relationships, and adjustments. University students do not usually engage in a healthy lifestyle. Moreover, excessive alcohol drinking among students is truly a health problem. OBJECTIVES : The primary objective of this study was to examine the association between alcohol drinking and healthy behaviors in undergraduate students from a large public technical university in the south of Poland (Europe). METHODS: A cross-sectional study was used with participants of 283 sec…
