Field-Induced Slow Magnetic Relaxation in a Six-Coordinate Mononuclear Cobalt(II) Complex with a Positive Anisotropy
2012
International audience; The novel mononuclear Co(II) complex cis-[Co-II(dmphen)(2)(NCS)(2)]center dot 0.25EtOH (1) (dmphen = 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline) features a highly rhombically distorted octahedral environment that is responsible for the strong positive axial and rhombic magnetic anisotropy of the high-spin Co-II ion (D = +98 cm(-1) and E = +8.4 cm(-1)). Slow magnetic relaxation effects were observed for 1 in the presence of a dc magnetic field, constituting the first example of field-induced single-molecule magnet behavior in a mononuclear six-coordinate Co(II) complex with a transverse anisotropy energy barrier.
A rare observation of a male Lesser Antillean Bullfinch (Loxigilla noctis) on Barbados.
2013
4 pages; International audience; We report the observation of a male Lesser Antillean Bullfinch (Loxigilla noctis) on the island of Barbados from 24 May to 12 June 2010, only the third record for this species on Barbados. We discuss the relevance of this observation to the taxonomic status of the Barbados Bullfinch (L. barbadensis) and the evolutionary loss of sexual dichromatism.
Characterization of field isolates of Trichoderma antagonistic towards Rhizoctonia solani
2009
Rhizoctonia solani AG 2-2 is a phytopathogenic fungus causing damping off and root rot in sugar beet. The disease occurs in the form of patches. In monoculture, these patches are highly mobile and never occur at the same place where they were observed the previous year. The soil from within patches was found more suppressive towards the disease than soil from healthy area. Comparison of the microbial genetic structures between the different soil samples suggested that Trichoderma spp. were involved in the increased suppressiveness. Trichoderma spp. are well known for their antagonistic activities. The aim of the present study was to characterize sixteen Trichoderma isolates isolated from wi…
Are soils suppressive to fungal diseases the sources of biocontrol agents ?
2014
Soils suppressive to soil-borne diseases are defined by a low disease incidence in spite of the presence of a virulent pathogen and a susceptible plant. In many cases, the inhibition of the disease development relies on the activity of the resident soil microbiome. Suppressiveness can be transmitted to conducive soil by mixing a small amount of suppressive soil into the conducive one. To identify microbial taxons linked to the suppressive phenotype of soils, culture independent-based methods have been employed to analyze and compare microbial diversities in two different soils suppressive (respectively conducive) to either Fusarium wilt of flax or Rhizoctonia diseases of sugar beet. Metagen…
Savoirs, représentations et comportements des réunionnais en matière de santé et d'environnement 18 mois après l'épidémie de chikungunya
2009
The outbreak of Chikungunya in Reunion in 2005/2006 surprised by its intensity and by the appearance of serious forms. It has left health professionals and relatively poor populations facing the lack of appropriate treatment. From the example of Chikungunya, the general objective of our multidisciplinary research was to study how two types of factors interact in the management of a vector-based disease: those related to representations and knowledge of the disease, and those related to to the perception of the environment. In this poster, we present the results of a questionnaire survey conducted in November 2007 among the inhabitants of a district of Ravine des Cabris (Commune of St Pierre…

Effect of culture parameters on the production of styrene (vinyl benzene) and 1-octene-3-ol by Penicillium caseicolum
1992
SummaryPenicillium caseicolum has been shown to completely synthesize styrene. A medium was developed to test the capacity of different strains for this synthesis. In a synthetic medium, styrene production began only after the glucose was entirely consumed. This production depended on storage temperature and occurred simultaneously with 1-octene-3-ol formation.
