Synthesis and catalytic performance in ethylene and 1-octene polymerization of chlorotitanium(IV) silsesquioxane complexes. Effect of increasing liga…

2016

Abstract The series of titanasilsesquioxanes that differ in a way of binding to the transition metal ( via one, two or three oxygen atoms) and type of nonreactive substituents bonded to inorganic oxygen-silicon cage ( i -Bu, Ph, c -C 6 H 11 ) were prepared by reacting of TiCl 4 with 1 eqv. of the silsesquioxane ligand. Upon treatment with an appropriate cocatalyst, all titanium precatalysts are active in ethylene and 1-octene polymerization and produce from low to high molecular weight polyethylenes and moderately ([ mmmm ] = 44–74%) isotactic poly(1-octene)s. The influence of polymerization parameters, type of cocatalyst and the silsesquioxane structure on the catalytic behavior of the tit…

The metathesis reaction of cyclooctene was investigated with respect to the solvent, the catalyst, and the ratio of its components. A necessary condition for an active metathesis catalyst appears to be the presence of two transition metal-carbon bonds in a complex of the transition metal compound with an aluminum halide. A structure for the active complex is proposed.

Copolymerization of ethylene with norbornene or 1-octene using supported ionic liquid systems

2016

Copolymerization of ethylene with norbornene (E/NB) and ethylene with 1-octene (E/Oct) is performed using supported ionic liquid (SIL) systems, in which metallocene (Cp2VCl2) or post-metallocene [VCl2(salenCl2)] vanadium catalysts are immobilized in pyridinium chloroaluminate ionic liquid supported on silica. The studied SIL catalysts show higher activities as well as stability than their non-supported analogues. In addition, higher activities and better comonomer incorporation are observed for norbornene (above 30 mol%). The comonomer incorporation has considerable influence on copolymer molecular weight (M w), melting temperature, crystallinity degree, and microstructure of the copolymers…

Trans -Cyclooctene-Functionalized PeptoBrushes with Improved Reaction Kinetics of the Tetrazine Ligation for Pretargeted Nuclear Imaging

2020

Tumor targeting using agents with slow pharmacokinetics represents a major challenge in nuclear imaging and targeted radionuclide therapy as they most often result in low imaging contrast and high radiation dose to healthy tissue. To address this challenge, we developed a polymer-based targeting agent that can be used for pretargeted imaging and thus separates tumor accumulation from the imaging step in time. The developed targeting agent is based on polypeptide-graft-polypeptoid polymers (PeptoBrushes) functionalized with trans-cyclooctene (TCO). The complementary In-111-labeled imaging agent is a 1,2,4,5-tetrazine derivative, which can react with aforementioned TCO-modified PeptoBrushes i…

Evaluation of Mechanical and Structure Properties of Electron Beam Cross-Linked Ethylene-Octene Copolymer Nanocomposites with Multi-Walled Carbon Nan…

2016

Recently, ionizing radiation has found an application in nanotechnology especially attributed to the improvement of nanocomposites. In the present paper, we have developed and evaluated radiation cross-linked nanocomposites made of ethylene-octene copolymer (EOC) with 0-15 wt.% of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and irradiated by 5 MeV accelerated electrons. The influence of combined factors of MWCNT filler content and the irradiation up to 150 kGy on the tensile stress-strain properties at 25–50°C was analysed. The cross-linking efficiency was also evaluated. The results indicated improvement in tensile properties with an increase of MWCNT content and the irradiation up to 150 kGy d…

Synthesis, Structure and Catalytic Properties of Dinuclear Mo-VI Complexes with Ditopic Diaminotetraphenols

2013

MoVI complexes with novel ditopic diaminotetraphenol ligands have been prepared by using a one-pot procedure in methanol or DMSO with [MoO2(acac)2] (acac = acetylacetonate) as the molybdenum source. The complexes were characterised with X-ray diffraction, NMR spectroscopic studies, elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy. In the solid state, the compounds represent either a rodlike molecular or oxido-bridged polymeric structure. The catalytic activity of the complexes was investigated by oxidising benzyl alcohol and 1-phenylethanol with hydrogen peroxide to the corresponding aldehyde and ketone, respectively. Furthermore, the catalytic activity was surveyed also in epoxidation of cyclooctene.

Elastic properties of UV irradiated polyethylene-octene copolymer composites with functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes

2016

ABSTRACTPolyethylene-octene copolymer (E38) is melt compounded with carboxylated carbon nanotubes (CNT-COOH) in the presence of maleic anhydride grafted polyethylene (PEgMA). The effects of CNT-COOH in the amount of 1–10 wt. % on the mechanical properties of E38 based composite are investigated. It is revealed that addition of CNT-COOH considerably increases the stiffness and mechanical strength of the E38 based composites. The effect of UV irradiation on the structure as well as on the mechanical properties of E38/PEgMA/CNT-COOH composites is also investigated. Results of the investigation testify that UV resistance of the E38 based composites increases by increasing the content of CNT-COO…

Orthometallation reactions of rhodium compounds containing orthohaloarylphosphines

1988

The reaction of RhCl3·.3H2O with a 3-molar proportion of P(o-ClC6H4)Ph2, (PCCl) at room temperature gives RhCl(PCCl)2 (1), in high yield. Reaction of [Rh(cot)2Cl]2, (cot = cyclooctene), with PCCl, sol12 molar ratio, also gives compound 1. Refluxing of a solution of 1 in 96% ethanol gives RhCl2(PC)(η2-PCCl), [PC  (C6H4)PPh2] (2). Complex 1 reacts with CO to give RhClCO(PCCl)2 (3). 31P NMR studies reveal that 1 exhibits a fluxional behaviour in solution in the temperature range −50 to 0 °C. The low temperature spectrum is consistent with the formulation RhCl(η2-PCCl)(η1-PCCl). In cyclic voltammetry complex 2 shows two two-electronic reduction processes, at −0.98 and −1.56 V. Electrochemical …

Model Pumices Supported Metal Catalysts

1997

The catalyzed, selective hydrogenation, in liquid phase, of 1,3-cyclooctadiene was studied on a series of Pd catalysts supported on natural pumice, model pumices (with variable content of alkali metal ions), silica, and sodium-doped silica. At constant pressure of H2(1 atm.) the reaction follows a zero-order kinetic for all the Pd catalysts. At low metal dispersion (Dx < 20%), Pd/pumice catalysts exhibit higher activity as compared to Pd/silica catalysts; the turnover frequency is maintained even at high metal dispersion in Pd/pumice but Pd/silica and Pd/model pumices without alkali ions show a decrease in activity. At increasingDx, the binding energy shift of Pd 3dlevel is negative in Pd/p…

Dichlorovanadium(IV) diamine-bis(phenolate) complexes for ethylene (co)polymerization and 1-olefin isospecific polymerization

2018

Abstract Two vanadium complexes bearing amine-bis(phenolate) ligands with the amino side-arm donor, [V{Me2NCH2CH2N(CH2-2-O-3,5-tBu2-C6H2)2}Cl2] (1) and [V{Me2NCH2CH2N(CH2-2-O-3,5-tBu2-C6H2)(CH2-2-O-C6H4)}Cl2] (2), were synthesised and characterized by FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. Upon activation with Al(iBu)3/Ph3CB(C6F5)4, these complexes became active catalysts for 1-octene polymerization giving highly stereoregular polymers (mmmm ∼ 90%) having regioirregularly arranged units. The catalytic activity of the catalysts in ethylene homo- and copolymerization, and their ability to incorporate a comonomer were highly dependent on both the activator type and the complex structure. 1/EtAlCl2 exhi…
