Implementation of a new adaptive algorithm using fuzzy cost function and robust to impulsive noise

2012

Adaptive filters are used in a wide range of applications such as noise cancellation, system identification, and prediction. One of the main problems for theses filters is the impulsive noise as it generates algorithm unstability. This work shows the development, simulation and hardware implementation of a new algorithm robust to impulsive noise. Hardware implementation becomes essential in many cases where a real time execution, reduced size, or low power system is needed. An efficient hardware architecture is proposed and different optimizations for size and speed are developed: no need for control state machine, reduced computation requirements due to simplifications, etc. Furthermore, t…

3d mesh denoising using normal based myriad filter

2011

We propose a new filtering scheme for denoising of 3D objects which are represented by a triangular mesh. This scheme consists on applying myriad filter to face normals and then updating the vertices positions in order to preserve the original shape of the object. The choice of the Myriad is justified by the assumption of Cauchy distributed angles between surface normals. This filter improves the performance of a normal-based method which is adapted to the underlying mesh structure. To evaluate these methods of filtering, we use three error metrics. The first is based on the vertices, the second is based on the normals and the third is based on Hausdorff distance. Experimental results demon…

TAF-ChIP: an ultra-low input approach for genome-wide chromatin immunoprecipitation assay

2019

The authors present a novel method for obtaining chromatin profiles from low cell numbers without prior nuclei isolation. The method is successfully implemented in generating epigenetic profile from 100 cells with high signal-to-noise ratio.

The discovery of the 401 Hz accreting millisecond pulsar IGR J17498-2921 in a 3.8 h orbit

2011

We report on the detection of a 400.99018734(1) Hz coherent signal in the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer light curves of the recently discovered X-ray transient, IGR J17498-2921. By analysing the frequency modulation caused by the orbital motion observed between August 13 and September 8, 2011, we derive an orbital solution for the binary system with a period of 3.8432275(3) hr. The measured mass function, f(M_2, M_1, i)=0.00203807(8) Msun, allows to set a lower limit of 0.17 Msun on the mass of the companion star, while an upper limit of 0.48 Msun is set by imposing that the companion star does not overfill its Roche lobe. We observe a marginally significant evolution of the signal frequency …
