Pacientu aprūpe pēc mikrodiskektomijas operācijas agrīnajā periodā

2016

Th…

FORENSIC MICROBIOLOGY: A CASE SERIES ANALYSIS

2019

The importance of microbial colonization of human organs in a living body has long been assessed. What still remains unclear are the microbial changes occurring after death, thus leading to the advent of a relatively novel field of research called “Postmortem microbiology”. It is applied to several forensic fields such as post-mortem interval assessment and cause of death determination. In this contest, a major limit is thus represented by the correct interpretation of the microbial data and by the actual lack of standard procedures. Here we propose a standard operative protocol in order to avoid false positives given by contamination (the main problem), post-mortem translocation and agonal…

Sebbene…

Achieving Strong Positive Cooperativity through Activating Weak Non-Covalent Interactions

2018

Positive cooperativity achieved through activating weak non-covalent interactions is common in biological assemblies but is rarely observed in synthetic complexes. Two new molecular tubes have been synthesized and the syn isomer binds DABCO-based organic cations with high orientational selectivity. Surprisingly, the ternary complex with two hosts and one guest shows a high cooperativity factor (α=580), which is the highest reported for synthetic systems without involving ion-pairing interactions. The X-ray single-crystal structure revealed that the strong positive cooperativity likely originates from eight C-H⋅⋅⋅O hydrogen bonds between the two head-to-head-arranged syn tube molecules. Thes…

Bringing a Molecular Plus One: Synergistic Binding Creates Guest-Mediated Three-Component Complexes

2020

Cethyl-2-methylresorcinarene (A), pyridine (B), and a set of 10 carboxylic acids (Cn) associate to form A·B·Cn ternary assemblies with 1:1:1 stoichiometry, representing a useful class of ternary systems where the guest mediates complex formation between the host and a third component. Although individually weak in solution, the combined strength of the multiple noncovalent interactions organizes the complexes even in a highly hydrogen-bond competing methanol solution, as explored by both experimental and computational methods. The interactions between A·B and Cn are dependent on the pKa values of carboxylic acids. The weak interactions between A and C further reinforce the interactions betw…

Phase Equilibria in the Binary and Ternary Systems Composed of Diethyl Ketone, 2-Pentanone, and 3-Pentanol at 101.3 kPa

2003

New vapor−liquid equilibrium data for the binary systems diethyl ketone + 2-pentanone, diethyl ketone + 3-pentanol and 2-pentanone + 3-pentanol and for the diethyl ketone + 2-pentanone + 3-pentanol ternary system are reported at 101.3 kPa. The data were found to be thermodynamically consistent according to the Van Ness−Byer−Gibbs method for the binary systems and according to the McDermott−Ellis method for the ternary one. The experimental results show that the diethyl ketone + 2-pentanone system is well represented by assuming ideal behavior. The other binary systems exhibit slight positive deviations from ideality, and no azeotrope is present. The VLE data have been correlated with the Wi…

Isobaric Vapor−Liquid Equilibria for Binary and Ternary Mixtures of Diisopropyl Ether, 2-Propyl Alcohol, and n-Butyl Propionate at 101.3 kPa

2009

Consistent vapor−liquid equilibrium data at 101.3 kPa have been determined for the ternary system diisopropyl ether (1) + 2-propyl alcohol (2) + n-butyl propionate (3) and two constituent binary systems: diisopropyl ether (1) + n-butyl propionate (3) and 2-propyl alcohol (2) + n-butyl propionate (3). The diisopropyl ether (1) + n-butyl propionate (3) system does not present deviation from ideal behavior, and the 2-propyl alcohol (2) + n-butyl propionate (3) system shows light positive deviation from Raoult’s law. The activity coefficients of the solutions were correlated with their compositions by the Wilson, NRTL, and UNIQUAC models. Wisniak−Tamir equations were used to correlate the boili…

Spin Transition of 1D, 2D and 3D Iron(II) Complex Polymers The Tug-of-War between Elastic Interaction and a Shock-Absorber Effect

2003

The structures of linear chain Fe(II) spin-crossover compounds of α,β- and α,ω-bis (tetrazol-1-yl)alkane type ligands are described in relation to their magnetic properties. The first threefold interlocked 3-D catenane Fe(II) spin-transition system, [μ-tris(1,4-bis(tetrazol-1-yl)butane-N1,N1′) iron(II)] bis(perchlorate), will be discussed. An analysis is made among the structures and the cooperativity of the spin-crossover behaviour of polynuclear Fe(II) spin-transition materials.
