Abstract Objective The aim of our study was to evaluate the usefulness of cortical-subcortical intraoperative brain mapping (ioBM) in resective awake surgery of low-grade gliomas (LGG) of the right non-dominant hemisphere (RndH). BACKGROUND: Stump appendicitis is a rare delayed complication post-appendectomy and it represents a diagnostic problem as clinicians are often not very familiar with this pathology. MATERIALS AND METHODS: One case of stump appendicitis has been reported in a 54 year old woman, whose acute phase was conservatively treated in our Department. A review of Medline literature was also carried out, from 1945 to 2015, showing 111 cases of stump appendicitis. The roles of group participation and group performance feedback were examined as antecedents of group potency, i.e., beliefs shared among a work group's members about the general effectiveness of the work group. Also examined were how group participation and the congruence of the feedback received from different sources about performance predicted convergence in members' beliefs about group effectiveness. The sample comprised 61 work groups of professionals involved in Master in Business Administration (MBA) programs (284 participants). Purpose: Tendon transfers have become a common surgical procedure around the ankle. In this study, we sought to evaluate the existence of a correlation between specific anthropometric parameters and the size of some ankle tendons measured on MRI, in particular those mostly used as graft in ankle surgery. Previous literature reports as well as own investigations concerning exogenously and endogenously induced Koebner-reactions in psoriatics are presented. The time interval between irritation and the Koebner-reaction is emphasized. It is proposed, that the intensity of the psoriatic reaction is mediated by circulating DHEA-deficiency. Hypothetical models are presented which allow to explain the different developmental rates of psoriatic lesions in relation to the type of irritation, the area affected and the subsequent proliferative responses.

The alteration of vancomycin pharmacokinetics during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) in patients undergoing cardiac surgery was studied. Eighteen patients were enrolled in the study. Vancomycin (1 g) was intravenously infused one to two hours before surgery. Blood samples were taken before, during, and after CPB. Costs of four different muscle relaxant regimens including the new intermediate-acting neuromuscular blocking drugs (NMBD) cisatracurium and rocuronium will be analyzed. Objective: Endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV) is an effective treatment for occlusive hydrocephalus caused by an obstruction of the CSF flow in the aqueduct or the posterior fossa. We evaluated the factors age, pathology and surgical technique on the results of the ETV. Methods: Between November 1992 and October 2000 171 ETV have been performed in 159 patients. The follow-up was evaluated in 150 patients. The age ranged from 10 days to 77 years (mean age 35 years). The hydrocephalus was caused by benign aqueductal stenosis in 77 patients, space-occupying lesions in 59, by intraventricular hemorrhages in 11, and by other causes in 3 patients.
