Multichannel functional testing in normal subjects, glaucoma suspects, and glaucoma patients

Purpose.: To evaluate visual function with a novel multichannel functional test named the ATD Multichannel Functional Test. Methods.: This multicenter study had a prospective and cross-sectional design. A total of 186 eyes were included: 42 with glaucoma, 14 glaucoma suspects due to optic nerve characteristics, 25 ocular hypertensives, and 105 normal eyes. Background The 17q21.31 deletion syndrome phenotype can be caused by either chromosome deletions or point mutations in the KANSL1 gene. To date, about 60 subjects with chromosome deletion and 4 subjects with point mutation in KANSL1 have been reported. Prevalence of chromosome deletions compared with point mutations, genotype–phenotype correlations and phenotypic variability have yet to be fully clarified. Methods We report genotype–phenotype correlations in 27 novel subjects with 17q21.31 deletion and in 5 subjects with KANSL1 point mutation , 3 of whom were not previously reported. Idiopathic intracranial hypertension: orbital MRI

The case is reported of a patient with idiopathic intracranial hypertension examined with magnetic resonance imaging. Marked enhancement of the optic nerve heads was found, which might be related to blood-retinal barrier breakdown related to a sudden rise in intracranial cerebrospinal fluid pressure.

Surgically verified variations in the A1 segment of the anterior cerebral artery

✓ Two patients with rare variations of the A1 segment of the anterior cerebral artery are presented. One patient had a perforation of the optic tract by an abnormal course of the A1 segment, and the other harbored an aneurysm of the A1 segment running below the optic nerve. The authors present a summary of A1 segment variations described in the literature.

Background: Primary optic nerve sheath meningioma (ONSM) is a rare but almost invariably blinding tumour when its natural history is observed in a “wait and see” strategy. Fabry disease is a rare X-linked lysosomal storage disorder, caused by the deficiency of alpha-galactosidase A. Myxoma of the orbit: a clinicopathologic report.

1990

A 27-year-old white man developed proptosis of his left eye over a period of 2 years. It was associated with vertical diplopia and displacement of the left globe down and laterally. Ultrasonography showed a cystic mass in the superior orbital region. Computed tomography (CT) demonstrated a solid, well-defined lesion behind the globe displacing the optic nerve medially. A transfrontal craniotomy revealed a nodular mass in the posterior and superior orbit, which extended anteriorly up to the globe. Histopathology, immunohistochemistry, and transmission electron microscopy proved the tumor to be a myxoma.

Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography of Optic Disc in Eyes With Primary Open-angle Glaucoma and Normal-tension Glaucoma.

PURPOSE To examine vessel density (VD) properties of the optic nerve head in eyes with ocular hypertension (OHT), high-tension glaucoma (HTG), and normal-tension glaucoma (NTG) and to evaluate associations on structural parameters of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL).
