The present article follows the formation of a view on the Latvian mythology, distinctly different from the one that can be drawn from the analysis of the folklore texts. It can be concluded that the cause for this discrepancy is the attitude of the learned men authoring the different texts describing the mythology of the local people in more or less detail. They relied basically on writings of other authors instead of the living tradition itself, as any folkloristic or anthropological approach was yet the matter of far future. Grāmatā iekļautas piecpadsmit dzīvesstāstu kompozīcijas, kas tapušas, veicot pētījumu “Etniskā un naratīvā dažādība dzīvesstāstu konstrukcijās Latvijā” laikā no 2013. līdz 2015. gadam. Since September 2014 I am engaged in a multimedia research project focused on the life and works of Furio Jesi; in this article I will discuss the genesis of my research and methodological consequences arising from my choice of doing research outside of academic institutions. Assuming that the oral history in the Digital Age should not be deprived of the use of video as an investigative historiography tool, I will then try to explain how the work of the documentarian is often intertwined with that of the historian. Opole celebrates its 800th anniversary of city rights in 2017. As a result,the article presents three thematic threads related to the latest history of Opole. In the first passage, an interesting project was discussed under the name “Almost few remember - memories of the inhabitants of Opole” realized in 2017 as part of the “Archive of Oral History”. In the second, the most extensive part, the stormy events in Opole Silesia have been described in the last messengers of the Second World War. The last part of the article was devoted to educational proposals, which can be used by history teachers in the course of the subject “History and society, the legacy of epochs”.

Latvijas Universitātes Filozofijas un socioloģijas institūta dzīvesstāstu pētnieku grupas kolektīvā monogrāfija “Piederēt un atšķirties: romu, krievu un latviešu dzīvesstāsti Latvijā” noslēdz Latvijas Zinātnes padomes pētnieciskā projekta “Etniskā un naratīvā dažādība dzīvesstāstu konstrukcijās Latvijā” īstenošanu. Projekts tika realizēts no 2012. līdz 2016. gadam LU FSI vadošās pētnieces un Bristoles universitātes emeritētās profesores Viedas Skultānes vadībā. Pētnieki analizēja vairāk nekā 100 biogrāfisko interviju Latvijas sabiedrisko pārmaiņu kontekstā.
