Il condominio di Via della Notte. Invito alla narrativa di Maria Attanasio

2015

Maria Attanasio is a skilful poet and novelist, that has been writing since the seventies. She has published six books of poems (one translated into Spanish, and two into English) and seven of prose narrative. Her novels are historical, but in the line of novelized history, and they range from the seventeenth century to the present day. Her latest novel, The Building on Night St., moves to a dystopian future that is already part of our present. The protagonists of her books are all 'nonaligned', outcasts and rebels; they are all women with one exception (The Forger of Caltagirone).

2015

This article scans Pedrolo's dramatic oeuvre starting from the comparative analysis of story-line and thematic aspects, characters, space and time. The final ambition is to emphasize the fact that three periods may be defined: early theatrical experiments (1954-1956), central production (1957-1963) and the last plays (1966-1977), that respond to different theatrical models.

L'obra teatral de Llorenç Villalonga

2015

This book analyzes the whole of Llorenç Villalonga's dramatic production - the relationship between the theatrical plays and the novels, and the classification and study of the dramatic production - following two basic lines: circuit theatre (halfway between comedy and customs and manners scenes, an approach to tragedy, drama and high comedy) and innovative, ground-breaking theatre (the absurdities).

How Italian dialect poets translate themselves and how they translate other poets

2017

Part one of this essay discusses the way most contemporary Italian dialect poets translate themselves into Italian. Part two of the essay examines examples of poetry translation into dialect made by some of the same contemporary authors. A comparison between the style of the self-translations, which is mainly lyrical, and the variety of styles of the translations from other poets, shows that each choice is an intentional strategy rather than a missed opportunity for a more creative self-translation, as some scholars have argued.
