Organotin(IV) derivatives with 5,7-disubstituted-1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine and their cytotoxic activities: The importance of being conformers
2014
Abstract The organotin(IV) compounds Me2SnCl2(dbtp)(1), Me2SnCl2(dbtp)2 (2), Et2SnCl2(dbtp) (3), Et2SnCl2(dbtp)2 (4), Et2SnCl2(dptp) (5), nBu2SnCl2(dbtp)2 (6), nBu2SnCl2(dptp) (7), Ph2SnCl2(dbtp) (8), Ph2SnCl2(EtOH)2(dptp)2 (9), where dbtp = 5,7-di-tert-butyl-1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine and dptp = 5,7-diphenyl-1,2,4-triazolo [1,5-a]pyrimidine, have been tested by MTT for their cytotoxic activity on three tumor cell lines, HepG2 (human hepatocellular carcinoma), HeLa (human cervix adenocarcinoma) and MCF-7 (human breast cancer). Except for 1 and 2, which were ineffective, all compounds significantly showed a dose-dependent anti-proliferative effect against the three cell lines. By calcul…
Camorra e mafie di mezzo in alcuni recenti contributi delle scienze sociali
2018
Interacting with the lively debate on petitions and the various forms of appeal to the authorities written in different spatial and temporal contexts, the article deals with the analysis of a group of “discrimination” requests addressed to the General Directorate for Demography and Race by a sample of female Italian citizens qualified as belonging to the “Jewish race” in Autumn 1938. Women’s petitions represented a minority within the broader corpus of requests for derogation from the Anti-Semitic Fascist legislation. They are nonetheless a source of great importance, both to illuminate the relevance of the “discrimination” procedures from the persecuted point of view, and to shed fresh lig…
Random Slicing: Efficient and Scalable Data Placement for Large-Scale Storage Systems
2014
The ever-growing amount of data requires highly scalable storage solutions. The most flexible approach is to use storage pools that can be expanded and scaled down by adding or removing storage devices. To make this approach usable, it is necessary to provide a solution to locate data items in such a dynamic environment. This article presents and evaluates the Random Slicing strategy, which incorporates lessons learned from table-based, rule-based, and pseudo-randomized hashing strategies and is able to provide a simple and efficient strategy that scales up to handle exascale data. Random Slicing keeps a small table with information about previous storage system insert and remove operations…
First-order derivative resolution of overlapped PAH peaks with common mass spectra in gas chromatography–mass spectrometry
2007
Abstract First-order derivative of 15 points smoothed chromatograms of mixtures of benzo( b )fluoranthene (BbF) and benzo( k )fluoranthene (BkF) for the m / z 252 ion obtained using two microscans has been proposed as a simple alternative to the resolution of overlapped chromatographic peaks of these two compounds which have identical mass spectra. The procedure provides limits of detection of 12 and 29 ng g −1 for BbF and BkF, respectively and offers the possibility to use the 250 and 248 ions to confirm the identity of these analytes.
Analysis of insoluble silicate: Decomposition with molten sodium hydroxide and determination of Zr(IV) with chloranilic acid in medium-strong acid
1983
A rapid, accurate and precise method for the determination of zirconium in silicates is proposed. Insoluble or sparingly soluble samples are decomposed by means of molten sodium hydroxide. Chloranilic acid is employed as reagent for the spectrophotometric determination of Zr(IV). The limit of detection is 1.2×10−7 M and the relative standard deviation is 0.24%.
Photoluminescence in Carborane–Stilbene Triads : A Structural, Spectroscopic, and Computational Study
2016
A set of triads in which o- and m-carborane clusters are bonded to two stilbene units through Ccluster -CH2 bonds was synthesized, and their structures were confirmed by X-ray diffraction. A study on the influence of the o- and m- isomers on the absorption and photoluminescence properties of the stilbene units in solution revealed no charge-transfer contributions in the lowest excited state, as confirmed by (TD)DFT calculations. The presence of one or two B-I groups in m-carborane derivatives does not affect the emission properties of the stilbenes in solution, probably due to the rather large distance between the iodo substituents and the fluorophore. Nevertheless, a significant redshift o…

On the loopless generation of binary tree sequences
1998
Weight sequences were introduced by Pallo in 1986 for coding binary trees and he presented a constant amortized time algorithm for their generation in lexicographic order. A year later, Roelants van Baronaigien and Ruskey developed a recursive constant amortized time algorithm for generating Gray code for binary trees in Pallo's representation. It is common practice to find a loopless generating algorithm for a combinatorial object when enunciating a Gray code for this object. In this paper we regard weight sequences as variations and apply a Williamson algorithm in order to obtain a loopless generating algorithm for the Roelants van Baronaigien and Ruskey's Gray code for weight sequences.
On a Non-periodic Shrinking Generator
2011
We present a new non-periodic random number generator based on the shrinking generator. The A-sequence is still generated using a LFSR, but the S-sequence is replaced by a finitely generated bi-ideal - a non-periodic sequence. The resulting pseudo-random sequence performs well in statistical tests. We show a method for the construction of an infinite number of finitely generated bi-ideals from a given A-sequence, such that the resulting sequence of the shrinking generator is nonperiodic. Further we prove the existence of what we call universal finitely generated bi-ideals that produce non-periodic words when used as the S-sequence of a shrinking generator for all non-trivial periodic A-sequ…
Some criteria for detecting capable Lie algebras
2013
Abstract In virtue of a recent bound obtained in [P. Niroomand, F.G. Russo, A note on the Schur multiplier of a nilpotent Lie algebra, Comm. Algebra 39 (2011) 1293–1297], we classify all capable nilpotent Lie algebras of finite dimension possessing a derived subalgebra of dimension one. Indirectly, we find also a criterion for detecting noncapable Lie algebras. The final part contains a construction, which shows that there exist capable Lie algebras of arbitrary big corank (in the sense of Berkovich–Zhou).
