X-Ray binaries are gravitationally bound systems consisting of a compact object that accretes matter from a companion star; they are the most interesting objects of the sky, infact they allow to study the physics of matter in very extreme conditions of density, temperature or magnetic eld. Invariant varieties of discontinuous vector fields

We study the geometric qualitative behaviour of a class of discontinuous vector fields in four dimensions around typical singularities. We are mainly interested in giving the conditions under which there exist one-parameter families of periodic orbits (a result that can be seen as one analogous to the Lyapunov centre theorem). The focus is on certain discontinuous systems having some symmetric properties. We also present an algorithm which detects and computes periodic orbits.
Study of irregular dynamics in an economic model: attractor localization and Lyapunov exponents

Cyclicity and instability inherent in the economy can manifest themselves in irregular fluctuations, including chaotic ones, which significantly reduces the accuracy of forecasting the dynamics of the economic system in the long run. We focus on an approach, associated with the identification of a deterministic endogenous mechanism of irregular fluctuations in the economy. Perturbation of the Lyapunov spectra of periodic orbits

We describe all Lyapunov spectra that can be obtained by perturbing the derivatives along periodic orbits of a diffeomorphism. The description is expressed in terms of the finest dominated splitting and Lyapunov exponents that appear in the limit of a sequence of periodic orbits, and involves the majorization partial order. Among the applications, we give a simple criterion for the occurrence of universal dynamics.
Antioxidant activity and phenolic composition in Pomegranate (Punica granatum, L.) genotypes from south Italy by UHPLC/Orbitrap-MS approach

Background: Pomegranate fruits are a rich source of polyphenols with numerous health-promoting effects. Pomegranate juices of five genotypes (‘Mollar’, ‘Kingdom’, ‘Dente di Cavallo’, and two old populations ‘Francofonte’ and ‘Santa Tecla’) were evaluated regarding anthocyanin and non-anthocyanin phenolic contents using ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC)–Orbitrap-mass spectrometry (MS). Molecular structures of Se(SCH3)2 and Te(SCH3)2 using gas-phase electron diffraction and ab initio and DFT geometry optimisations

The molecular structures of Se(SCH3)2 and Te(SCH3)2 were investigated using gas-phase electron diffraction (GED) and ab initio and DFT geometry optimisations. While parameters involving H atoms were refined using flexible restraints according to the SARACEN method, parameters that depended only on heavy atoms could be refined without restraints. Uzlabotā metodoloģija mikotoksīnu un pesticīdu noteikšanai garšvielās, izmantojot Orbitrap augstas izšķirtspējas masspektrometriju

Maģistra darbā apskatīta ultra efektīvās šķidruma hromatogrāfijas - Orbitrap augstas izšķirtspējas masspektrometrijas metode mikotoksīnu un pesticīdu atlieku noteikšanai garšvielās. Izstrādātā analīzes metode salīdzināta ar kvadrupola tandēma masspektrometriju. Abām metodēm atgūstamība ir robežās no 75 līdz 120% un atkārtojamība no 10 līdz 15%, kas atbilst Eiropas Savienības prasībām attiecībā uz metodes veiktspēju. Kopumā Orbitrap augstas izšķirtspējas masspektrometrija uzrādīja pietiekamu korelāciju ar kvadrupola tandēma masspektrometriju. From strong to fragile glass formers: secondary relaxation in polyalcohols.

We have studied details of the molecular origin of slow secondary relaxation near T(g) in a series of neat polyalcohols by means of dielectric spectroscopy and (2)H NMR. From glycerol to threitol, xylitol, and sorbitol the appearance of the secondary relaxation changes gradually from a wing-type scenario to a pronounced beta peak. It is found that in sorbitol the dynamics of the whole molecule contributes equally to the beta process, while in glycerol the hydrogen bond forming OH groups remain rather rigid compared to the hydrogens bonded to the carbon skeleton.
X-Ray Detected Magnetic Resonance: A Unique Probe of the Precession Dynamics of Orbital Magnetization Components

X-ray Detected Magnetic Resonance (XDMR) is a novel spectroscopy in which X-ray Magnetic Circular Dichroism (XMCD) is used to probe the resonant precession of local magnetization components in a strong microwave pump field. We review the conceptual bases of XDMR and recast them in the general framework of the linear and nonlinear theories of ferromagnetic resonance (FMR). Emphasis is laid on the information content of XDMR spectra which offer a unique opportunity to disentangle the precession dynamics of spin and orbital magnetization components at given absorbing sites. Photoinduced magnetization wave in diluted magnetic semiconductors

We derive an evolutional equation incorporating the processes of spin-polarization transfer from an electron to a magnetic ion subsystem of a diluted magnetic semiconductor along with spin-lattice relaxation and spatial spin diffusion. Above equation has been obtained for nonequilibrium magnetization due to exchange scattering of photoexcited charge carriers by magnetic ions. We show that the mechanism of a band gap narrowing due to exchange scattering requires relatively low optical power to reach an optical bistability for pump frequency range close to crystal band gap.
