Occurrence and exposure assessment of mycotoxins in ready-to-eat tree nut products through ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled with …
2020
Tree nuts have become popular snacks due to their attributed benefits in the health state. Nevertheless, their susceptibility to fungal contamination lead to the occurrence of potentially dangerous mycotoxins. Hence, the aim of this work was to evaluate the presence of mycotoxins in ready-to-eat almonds, walnuts, and pistachios from Italian markets. The most relevant mycotoxin found in almonds was α-zearalanol in 18% of samples (n = 17) ranging from 3.70 to 4.54 µg/kg. Walnut samples showed frequent contamination with alternariol, present in 53% of samples (n = 22) at levels from 0.29 to 1.65 µg/kg. Pistachios (n = 15) were the most contaminated commodity, with β-zear…

This paper proposes an observer-based robust guaranteed cost control method for thrust-limited rendezvous in near-circular orbits. Treating the noncircularity of the target orbit as a parametric uncertainty, a linearized motion model derived from the two-body problem is adopted as the controlled plant. Based on this model, a robust guaranteed cost observer-controller is synthesized with a less conservative saturation control law, and sufficient condition for the existence of this observer-based rendezvous controller is derived. Finally, an illustrative example with immeasurable velocity states is presented to demonstrate the advantages and effectiveness of the control scheme.
Influence of solar and sensor angles on chlorophyll estimation for geostationary ocean color imager
2012
The impact of the solar and sensor angles on band-ratio chlorophyll concentration (Chl) estimation in Case 1 waters (open ocean) is analyzed in this work. The error range of Chl estimation due to angular variation is evaluated. The radiative transfer code Hydrolight is used for remote sensing reflectance simulation for 20 spectral bands. OC4v4 algorithm is used for Chl estimation. The results indicate that the error range of Chl estimation is between -41.91% and +46.15% when Chl range is from 0.0425 mg/m 3 to 10.6685 mg/m 3 and the solar and sensor zenith angles vary between 0 and 80°. This study provides a reference to determine the effective observation area of a future multispectral or h…
A reliable screening of mycotoxins and pesticide residues in paprika using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled to high resolution Or…
2016
Abstract In this study, an ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) coupled to a high resolution Orbitrap mass spectrometry (Orbitrap-HRMS) was demonstrated as a promising technique in high-throughput method development for the routine analysis and contamination control of mycotoxins and pesticide residues in spices. The method was applied for the analysis of fifty ground paprika samples containing blends of sweet and hot paprika harvested in Brazil and China. The efficiency and detection sensitivity of the used UHPLC-Orbitrap-HRMS technique were compared to the results obtained using a triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometric detector (UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS). The values of recover…
Mass spectrometry strategies for mycotoxins analysis in European beers
2013
In this work, an existent solid-phase extraction (SPE) procedure was used to study the occurrence of mycotoxins in different European beers. HPLC-QqQ-MS/MS and ultra high resolution mass analyser have been optimized for the analysis of 18 mycotoxins: the methods were validated according to the EU Commission Decision 2002/657/EC guidelines. In this sense, matrix-matched calibration was performed for each type of beer, obtaining an effective quantification. The recoveries ranged from 63 to 91% and repeatability and reproducibility expressed as relative standard deviation (RSD%) were lower than 17%. On one hand, HPLC-LTQ-Orbitrap ® was used for unambiguous identification of target mycotoxins, …

Theoretical determination of the geometric and electronic structures of oligorylenes and poli(peri‐naphthalene)
1992
We present a theoretical investigation of the electronic structure of oligorylenes (from perylene to heptarylene, including also the naphthalene molecule) and their corresponding polymer poly(peri‐naphthalene) (PPN) using the nonempirical valence effective (VEH) method. The geometry of the unit cell used to generate the polymer is extrapolated from the PM3‐optimized molecular geometries of the longest oligorylenes. That geometry shows some bond alternation along the perimeter carbon chains and a bond length of ≊1.46 Å is calculated for the peri bonds connecting the naphthalene units. The VEH one‐electron energy level distributions calculated for oligorylenes are used to interpret the experi…
Dynamical masses of the low-mass stellar binary AB Doradus B
2015
Context. ABDoradus is the main system of the ABDoradus moving group. It is a quadruple system formed by two widely separated binaries of pre-main-sequence (PMS) stars: ABDor A/C and ABDor Ba/Bb. The pair ABDor A/C has been extensively studied and its dynamical masses have been determined with high precision, thus making of ABDor C a benchmark for calibrating PMS stellar models. If the orbit and dynamical masses of the pair ABDor Ba/Bb can be determined, they could not only play a similar role to that of ABDor C in calibrating PMS models, but would also help to better understand the dynamics of the whole ABDoradus system. Aims. We aim to determine the individual masses of the pair ABDor Ba/B…
Spin up and phase fluctuations in the timing of the accreting millisecond pulsar XTE J1807-294
2007
We performed a timing analysis of the 2003 outburst of the accreting X-ray millisecond pulsar XTE J1807-294 observed by RXTE. Using recently refined orbital parameters we report for the first time a precise estimate of the spin frequency and of the spin frequency derivative. The phase delays of the pulse profile show a strong erratic behavior superposed to what appears as a global spin-up trend. The erratic behavior of the pulse phases is strongly related to rapid variations of the light curve, making it very difficult to fit these phase delays with a simple law. As in previous cases, we have therefore analyzed separately the phase delays of the first harmonic and of the second harmonic of …
