Lower Rydberg series of methane: a combined coupled cluster linear response and molecular quantum defect orbital calculation.
2006
Vertical excitation energies as well as related absolute photoabsorption oscillator strength data are very scarce in the literature for methane. In this study, we have characterized the three existing series of low-lying Rydberg states of CH4 by computing coupled cluster linear response (CCLR) vertical excitation energies together with oscillator strengths in the molecular-adapted quantum defect orbital formalism from a distorted Cs geometry selected on the basis of outer valence green function calculations. The present work provides a wide range of data of excitation energies and absolute oscillator strengths which correspond to the Rydberg series converging to the three lower ionization p…
Juvenile psammomatoid ossifying fibroma of Orbit-A rare case report and review of literature
2021
Fibro osseous lesions of the craniofacial skeleton are a benign condition in which the normal architecture of the bone is replaced by fibrous connective tissue with varying degrees of mineralization. JOF forms a special entity among the fibro osseous lesions because of its age of occurrence and its aggressive nature thereby mimicking a malignancy. The Juvenile Ossifying Fibromas were further subdivided into Psammomatoid and Trabecular variant based on their histopathological characteristics. They tend to differ in their mineralized portion with the trabecular variant showing woven bone while the psammamotoid shows lamellated and spherical ossicles in various shapes in a myxoid stroma interm…
Populācijas biomarķieru noteikšana notekūdeņos ar nano-plūsmas šķidrumu hromatogrāfiju- masspektrometriju
2022
Paramagnetic Mono- and Polyhydrides of the Transition Metals
2001
Publisher Summary This chapter reviews the methods used for the synthesis or generation of paramagnetic hydride complexes. It subsequently surveys the known classes of stable open-shell hydride complexes. The chapter also reveals the fundamental properties of the M–H bond in open-shell compounds and finally examines the various established decomposition modes. The classical picture of the terminal M–H bond is that where the hydrogen atom is orbital and combines with an appropriate metal-fragment hybrid orbital to generate the bonding and antibonding combinations. The chapter also elaborates the paramagnetic hydride complexes, which are thermally sensitive compounds and are unstable toward a…
Sinusitis in Thyroid Associated Ophthalmopathy
1993
In 19 patients with thyroid associated ophthalmopathy undergoing orbital decompression, histologic examination of paranasal sinus mucosa revealed moderate to severe inflammatory alterations in all patients. Only 2/19 patients had a history of chronic sinusitis. In 4/19 patients, mucosal abnormalities of the paranasal sinuses were found on preoperative computed tomography CT scans. Postoperatively, 10/19 patients developed purulent sinusitis. It is suggested that patients suffering from thyroid associated ophthalmopathy have an increased incidence of histologically detectable inflammatory changes of paranasal sinus mucosa. Because of preexisting mucosal inflammation, these patients are pron…
Observation of Orbitally Excited Bs Mesons
2007
We report the first observation of two narrow resonances consistent with states of orbitally excited (L=1) B_s mesons using 1 fb^{-1} of ppbar collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV collected with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. We use two-body decays into K^- and B^+ mesons reconstructed as B^+ \to J/\psi K^+, J/\psi \to \mu^+ \mu^- or B^+ \to \bar{D}^0 \pi^+, \bar{D}^0 \to K^+ \pi^-. We deduce the masses of the two states to be m(B_{s1}) = 5829.4 +- 0.7 MeV/c^2 and m(B_{s2}^*) = 5839.7 +- 0.7 MeV/c^2.
Measurement of the p(e,e′π+)n reaction close to threshold and at low Q2
2017
The cross section of the $p(e,e'\pi^+)n$ reaction has been measured for five kinematic settings at an invariant mass of $W = 1094$ MeV and for a four-momentum transfer of $Q^2 = 0.078$ (GeV/$c$)$^2$. The measurement has been performed at MAMI using a new short-orbit spectrometer (SOS) of the A1 collaboration, intended for detection of low-energy pions. The transverse and longitudinal cross section terms were separated using the Rosenbluth method and the transverse-longitudinal interference term has been determined from the left-right asymmetry. The experimental cross section terms are compared with the calculations of three models: DMT2001, MAID2007 and $\chi$MAID. The results show that we …
Oral encapsulated vascular malformation: an undescribed presentation in the mouth
2016
Vascular lesions have been classified in two broad categories, hemangiomas and malformations. Encapsulated vascular lesions have not been reported in the oral cavity, but they were described in other sites, mainly in the orbit. Herein, we present a case of an oral encapsulated vascular lesion located in the right buccal mucosa of a 69-year-old male, including histological and immunohistochemical description and a literature review. Key words:Buccal mucosa, hemangioma, vascular malformation, oral cavity.
An unusual Erdheim-Chester disease with orbital involvement: a case report
2017
Erdheim-Chester disease is a rare non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis with multiorgan involvement and a specific tropism for perivascular and fatty connective tissue, of unclear origin, with poor response to therapy. Its identification is difficult because of the variable clinical presentation and its lack of knowledge. We report the case of a 63-years-old woman, with a history of bilateral orbital pseudotumor, who comes to our attention because of progressively worsening asthenia, vomiting and systemic inflammation. Total body computerized tomography scan showed a volumetric increase of choroid plexus of the temporal horn of the left lateral ventricle, presence of solid retrobulbar tissue at…
Glucocorticoids in Graves’ orbitopathy: mechanisms of action and clinical application
2020
Background:Graves’ orbitopathy (GO) is the most frequent extrathyroidal manifestation of the autoimmune Graves’ disease. GO significantly impacts quality of life and has a psycho-social morbidity. Inflammation and swelling of the orbital tissue often leads to proptosis, diplopia, and decrease of visual acuity. Due to the inflammatory background of the disease, glucocorticoids (GC) have been used as a first-line treatment for decades. Methods:PubMed and MeSH database were searched for original articles, clinical trials, reviews, and meta-analyses published between 1 January 2000 and 31 March 2020 and pertaining to both the mechanism of action and immunological effects of GC as well as to the …
