Deposition order controls the first stages of a metal-organic coordination network on an insulator surface

| openaire: EC/FP7/610446/EU//PAMS We report on first stages toward the formation of a surface-confined metal-organic coordination network (MOCN) by sequential deposition of biphenyl-4,4′-dicarboxylic acid and iron atoms on the surface of a bulk insulator, calcite (10.4). The influence of the deposition order on the structure formation is studied by noncontact atomic force microscopy operated in ultrahigh vacuum at room temperature. It is found that sequential deposition facilitates MOCN formation when the organic linker molecules are first adsorbed on the surface, followed by iron deposition. Desferrioxamine as an appropriate chelator for 90Nb: Comparison of its complexation properties for M-Df-Octreotide (M=Nb, Fe, Ga, Zr)

The niobium-90 radioisotope ((90)Nb) holds considerable promise for use in immuno-PET, due to its decay parameters (t½ = 14.6h, positron yield=53%, Eß(+)(mean) = 0.35 MeV and Eß(+)(max) = 1.5 MeV). In particular, (90)Nb appears well suited to detect in vivo the pharmacokinetics of large targeting vectors (50-150 kDa). In order to be useful for immuno-PET chelators are required to both stabilize the radionuclide in terms of coordination chemistry and to facilitate the covalent attachment to the targeting vector. Reversible coordination of dioxygen by tripodal tetraamine copper complexes incorporated in a porous silica framework.

The present study reports the synthesis and rational design of porous structured materials by using a templating method. A tetraethoxysilylated tripodal tetraamine (TREN) was covalently incorporated in a silica framework with a double imprint: A surfactant template and a metal ion imprint. The presence of a cationic surfactant (CTAB) endowed the material with a high porosity, and the tripodal or square-pyramidal topology of the ligand was preserved thanks to the use of the silylated Cu(II) complex. Reversible switching of the electronic ground state in a pentacoordinated Cu(ii) complex.

International audience; An easy reversible switching of the electronic ground state in a pentacoordinated copper(ii) complex is reported for the first time. The simple protonation of a carboxylic group in a Cu(ii) complex with a {dx(2)-y(2)}(1) electronic configuration leads to a flip of the ground electronic configuration from {dx(2)-y(2)}(1) to {dz(2)}(1) in the metal ion.

Resorcinarene bis-crown silver complexes and their application as antibacterial Langmuir-Blodgett films

Silver complexes of a cation binding supramolecular host, resorcinarene bis-crown (CNBC5) with propyl, nonyl, decyl and undecyl alkyl chains were investigated by NMR titration, picrate extraction and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Binding studies showed that both 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 (host-Ag(+)) complexes are present in solution with only a slight effect of the lower rim alkyl chain length on the binding constants (log K 4.0-4.2 for 1 : 2 complexes). Solid state complexes of the resorcinarene bis-crowns bearing either C(3) or C(11) chains were obtained. Photoactivation of Anticancer Ru Complexes in Deep Tissue: How Deep Can We Go?

Activation of anticancer therapeutics such as ruthenium (Ru) complexes is currently a topic of intense investigation. The success of phototherapy relies on photoactivation of therapeutics after the light passes through skin and tissue. In this paper, the photoactivation of anticancer Ru complexes with 671-nm red light through tissue of different thicknesses was studied. Four photoactivatable Ru complexes with different absorption wavelengths were synthesized. Cell Culture Characterization of Prooxidative Chain-Transfer Agents as Novel Cytostatic Drugs

Prooxidative therapy is a well-established concept in infectiology and parasitology, in which prooxidative drugs like artemisinin and metronidazole play a pivotal clinical role. Theoretical considerations and earlier studies have indicated that prooxidative therapy might also represent a promising strategy in oncology. Here, we have investigated a novel class of prooxidative drugs, namely chain-transfer agents, as cytostatic agents in a series of human tumor cell lines in vitro.
