MASPEGHI 2004 Mechanisms for Speialization, Generalization and Inheritance
2005
Rapport de Recherche Projet OCL, N° I3S/RR-2004-15-FR; International audience; MASPEGHI 2004 is the third edition of the MASPEGHI workshop. This year the organizers of both the ECOOP 2002 Inheritance Workshop and MASPEGHI 2003 came together to enlarge the scope of the workshop and to address new challenges. We succeeded in gathering a diverse group of researchers and practitioners interested in mechanisms for managing specialization and generalization of programming language components. The workshop contained a series of presentations with discussions as well as group work, and the interplay between the more than 22 highly skilled and inspiring people from many different communities gave ri…

Going, Returning, Rising. The Movement of the Organs in the Mesopotamian Anatomy
2019
Although many assyriological studies have been done on internal organs in the Mesopotamian worldview, the pathologies associated with them, and their metaphorical and ideological value, little attention have been paid to the fact that, sometimes, internal organs are associated with verbs of movement. Perhaps, this limited regard can be attributed to the assyriological look at the Mesopotamian body being shaped by the modern biomedicine. According to biomedicine, in fact, the human internal anatomy is composed of a series of organs which stay fixed in their positions. On the contrary, I want to show how the internal organs in Mesopotamian anatomy are thought as capable to move. I will demons…
ATLAS operations in the GridKa T1/T2 Cloud
2011
The ATLAS GridKa cloud consists of the GridKa Tier1 centre and 12 Tier2 sites from five countries associated to it. Over the last years a well defined and tested operation model evolved. Several core cloud services need to be operated and closely monitored: distributed data management, involving data replication, deletion and consistency checks; support for ATLAS production activities, which includes Monte Carlo simulation, reprocessing and pilot factory operation; continuous checks of data availability and performance for user analysis; software installation and database setup. Of crucial importance is good communication between sites, operations team and ATLAS as well as efficient cloud l…
The EU-Ukraine Association Agreement prior to the Vilnius Eastern Partnership Summit
2014
Abstract This paper seeks to explore how the EU policy on Ukraine evolved in the run-up to the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius in November 2013. In particular, it looks into the preparations leading to the signature of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. Thereby it contributes to better understanding of the EU policy debate related to the associated negotiations with the Eastern Partnership countries. Prior to the Vilnius Summit there were high expectations that signature of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement would become a key deliverable of the summit. After the EU had postponed the signing of the agreement due to Ukraine’s backsliding in democracy for several times, the process…
Complex objects modeling: An entity-relationship approach
1989
Facilities for complex object modeling are nowadays needed in several areas of database applications (CAD/CAM, office automation, robotics, ...). Consequently, either new models are developed, or existing ones are extended to better respond to this requirement. Current proposals in the latter category are mainly based on the relational approach (with, as major outcome, the NF2 family of models) or on functional models like DAPLEX. This paper intends to show that the entity-relationship approach may secure an equivalent result, preserving the well known advantages inherent to this approach : increased readability and graphical display of the database schema.
Analysis of the IEEE 802.11e EDCA Under Statistical Traffic
2006
Many models have been proposed to analyze the performance of the IEEE 802.11 distributed coordination function (DCF) and the IEEE 802.11e enhanced distributed coordination function (EDCA) under saturation condition. To analyze DCF under statistical traffic, Foh and Zukerman introduce a model that uses Markovian Framework to compute the throughput and delay performance. In this paper, we analyze the protocol service time of EDCA mechanism and introduce a model to analyze EDCA under statistical traffic using Markovian Framework. Using this model, we analyze the throughput and delay performance of EDCA mechanism under statistical traffic.
Experimental realization of a Persistent Identifier Infrastructure stack for Named Data Networking
2015
The continuation of Persistent Identifier Infrastructures is crucial when next-generation Internet architectures based on Information-Centric Networking (ICN) arise. When moving to ICN, we must ensure the resolution of Persistent Identifiers (PID), such as the billions of Digital Object Identifiers (DOI) used today, to provide continued access to scientific literature and research data. It provides the base for the necessary transformations in the Handle System architecture and protocol for running a PID system on the Named Data Networking (NDN) architecture, which is a recent incarnation of ICN. Furthermore, it examines the PID-specific resolution access patterns, investigates the expected…
Soft errors in commercial off-the-shelf static random access memories
2016
International audience; This article reviews state-of-the-art techniques for the evaluation of the effect of radiation on static random access memory (SRAM). We detailed irradiation test techniques and results from irradiation experiments with several types of particles. Two commercial SRAMs, in 90 and 65 nm technology nodes, were considered as case studies. Besides the basic static and dynamic test modes, advanced stimuli for the irradiation tests were introduced, as well as statistical post-processing techniques allowing for deeper analysis of the correlations between bit-flip cross-sections and design/architectural characteristics of the memory device. Further insight is provided on the …
