Ethanol intake in male mice exposed to social defeat: Environmental enrichment potentiates resilience

Large preclinical evidence shows that exposure to social defeat (SD) increases vulnerability to drug abuse, increasing the consumption of ethanol. However, not all subjects are equally affected by the changes induced by stress. Previous reports have evidenced that the resilient phenotype to depressive-like behaviors after SD is associated with the resistant phenotype to cocaine-increased rewarding effects and the smaller neuroinflammatory response. Wake-up stroke and unknown-onset stroke; occurrence and characteristics from the nationwide Norwegian Stroke Register

Introduction: Population-based knowledge of the characteristics of wake-up stroke and unknown-onset stroke is limited. We compared occurrence and characteristics of ischaemic and haemorrhagic wake-up stroke, unknown-onset stroke and known-onset stroke in a nationwide register-based study. Patients and methods: We included patients registered in the Norwegian Stroke Register from 2012 through 2019. Cleft palate only (CPO) is one of the most common congenital malformations worldwide. The etiopathogenesis of CPO is not completely understood. Environmental factors, such as smoking, alcohol consumption, intake of drugs during pregnancy, advanced paternal age, have been demonstrated to be a risk of CPO, but conflicting results have also been published. Insufficient intake of folic acid during the pregnancy has been suggested to increase the risk for CPO. The demonstrated risk for siblings and the higher risk for monozygotic twins suggest a genetic etiopathogenesis for CPO. The bioengineered tissue plasminogen activator tenecteplase is an important treatment modality of acute myocardial infarction recommended by international guidelines. Following introduction of originator tenecteplase (brand names Metalyse(®) and TNKase(®)), a "biosimilar" tenecteplase became available for commercial use in India under the brand name Elaxim(®) in the absence of Indian biosimilar guidelines which came into force from September 15th, 2012.
