Complex objects classified by morphological shape analysis and elliptical Fourier descriptors

This chapter deals with the classification of complex objects by morphological shape analysis and elliptical Fourier descriptors. An unsupervised method has been proposed to identify components with specific shapes by a simple edge detector and to classify them via the description of their contours. A particular application has been arranged in order to evaluate the goodness of this approach when discriminating between normal and pathological human megakaryocytes. Alterations in these cells can occur in many pathological processes and in such cases the pattern, size and shape of the cytoplasm and/or of the nucleus are extremely varied.

σ1 and/or σ2 receptors play a crucial role in pathological conditions such as pain, neurodegenerative disorders, and cancer. A set of spirocyclic cyclohexanes with diverse O-heterocycles and amino moieties (general structure III) was prepared and pharmacologically evaluated. In structure-activity relationships studies, the σ1 receptor affinity and σ1:σ2 selectivity were correlated with the stereochemistry, the kind and substitution pattern of the O-heterocycle, and the substituents at the exocyclic amino moiety. cis-configured 2-benzopyran cis-11b bearing a methoxy group and a tertiary cyclohexylmethylamino moiety showed the highest σ1 affinity ( Ki = 1.9 nM) of this series of compounds. It offers better tools for this shared symptomatology during therapy’s conservative phase. Tensor tympani muscle physiology and function in the middle ear have been veiled, even when their dysfunction and anatomical relationships may explain a group of confused otic symptoms during conventional clinical evaluation. This study analyses the effects on health of the asymmetry of power relations between the sexes and, specifically, how life conditions have a bearing on personal well-being. Subjective discomfort usually manifests itself by means of symptoms. Epidemiological studies show a higher physical and mental morbidity in women. Šneidera mizmīlis ir saproksilītiska, subkortikālo telpu apdzīvojoša vabole, kura dala šo telpu ar citiem bezmugurkaulniekiem un saproksilītiskajām sēnēm. Ievācu subkortikālo materiālu no sausokņiem Šneidera mizmīļa apdzīvotos mežos, no kura, izmantojot sērijveida atšķaidījumu metodi, izdalīju raugus un pelējumus. Starp raugu un pelējumu sabiedrībām uz Šneidera mizmīļa apdzīvotiem un neapdzīvotiem kokiem pastāvēja būtiska atšķirība. Izmantojot mizas sijāšanu ievācu arī subkortikālos bezmugurkaulniekus.
