Thermal atomic layer deposition of AlOxNy thin films for surface passivation of nano-textured flexible silicon
2019
Abstract Aluminum oxynitride (AlOxNy) films with different nitrogen concentration are prepared by thermal atomic layer deposition (ALD) for flexible nano-textured silicon (NT-Si) surface passivation. The AlOxNy films are shown to exhibit a homogeneous nitrogen-doping profile and the presence of an adequate amount of hydrogen, which is investigated by Time-of-Fight Elastic Recoil Detection Analysis (ToF-ERDA). The effective minority carrier lifetimes are measured after the NT-Si surface passivation; the minimum surface recombination velocity (SRV) of 5 cm-s−1 is achieved with the AlOxNy film in comparison to the Al2O3 and AlN films (SRV of 7–9 cm-s−1). The better SRV with AlOxNy film is due …
Passivity-based output feedback control of Markovian jump systems with discrete and distributed time-varying delays
2013
In this article, we present a new method in designing mode-dependent passivity-based output feedback controllers for Markovian jump systems with time-varying delays. Both discrete and distributed delays are considered in the model. A Lyapunov–Krasovskii function is constructed to establish new required sufficient conditions for ensuring exponentially mean-square stability and the passivity criteria, simultaneously. The method produces linear matrix inequality formulation that allows obtaining controller gains based on a convex optimisation method. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of our approach.
A passivity approach to control of Markovian jump systems with mixed time-varying delays
2013
This paper investigated the problem of control design for a class of stochastic systems with Markovian jump parameters and time-varying delays. For the model under consideration, a passivity-based approach is introduced for designing mode-dependent output feedback controllers with mixed discrete and distributed delays. A Lypunov-Krasovskii function (LKF) is defined to establish new required sufficient conditions for ensuring exponentially mean-square stability and the passivity criteria, simultaneously. Moreover, controller gains are calculated based on a convex optimization method by solving a Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI). Finally, simulation results are provided to illustrate the effect…
Optimal positioning of irregular shapes in stamping die strip
2010
The nesting of two-dimensional shapes is a common problem, where raw material has to be economically cut. As for the single-pass single-row strip layout, several algorithms, based on established methods, have been proposed. Moreover, it should be noticed that the optimum layout should also consider a few constraints, like grain orientation for subsequent forming operation, correct bridge width, and the commercial roll of metal width in order to make solutions applicable in real industrial environments. Most of the procedures until now shown in literature are quite complex and often ignore these real constraints. They usually make use of sliding techniques and are not able to effectively wor…
First-passage problem for nonlinear systems under Lévy white noise through path integral method
2016
In this paper, the first-passage problem for nonlinear systems driven by $$\alpha $$ -stable Levy white noises is considered. The path integral solution (PIS) is adopted for determining the reliability function and first-passage time probability density function of nonlinear oscillators. Specifically, based on the properties of $$\alpha $$ -stable random variables and processes, PIS is extended to deal with Levy white noises with any value of the stability index $$\alpha $$ . Application to linear and nonlinear systems considering different values of $$\alpha $$ is reported. Comparisons with pertinent Monte Carlo simulation data demonstrate the accuracy of the results.
Efficient solution of the first passage problem by Path Integration for normal and Poissonian white noise
2015
Abstract In this paper the first passage problem is examined for linear and nonlinear systems driven by Poissonian and normal white noise input. The problem is handled step-by-step accounting for the Markov properties of the response process and then by Chapman–Kolmogorov equation. The final formulation consists just of a sequence of matrix–vector multiplications giving the reliability density function at any time instant. Comparison with Monte Carlo simulation reveals the excellent accuracy of the proposed method.
Superlinear (p(z), q(z))-equations
2017
AbstractWe consider Dirichlet boundary value problems for equations involving the (p(z), q(z))-Laplacian operator in the principal part and prove the existence of one and three nontrivial weak solutions, respectively. Here, the nonlinearity in the reaction term is allowed to depend on the solution, but does not satisfy the Ambrosetti–Rabinowitz condition. The hypotheses on the reaction term ensure that the Euler–Lagrange functional, associated to the problem, satisfies both the -condition and a mountain pass geometry.

2017
Interdiscplinary analysis of Maupassant's short story "La Petite Roque" in the context of 19th and early 20th century crime literature (causes célèbres). The article focuses on questions of subjectivity, desire and respresentation.
Équivalents finnois du futur morphologique français : étude contrastive de dix nouvelles de Guy de Maupassant et de leurs traductions finnoises
2014
Tiivistelmä – Abstract Tutkielman tarkoituksena on selvittää, kuinka ranskan kielen morfologinen futuurirakenne esitetään suomenkielisissä käännösteksteissä. Ranskankielinen korpus käsittää noin 36 668 sanaa, suomenkielinen noin 25 …
EP46* First pass effect and associated clot characteristics in the EXCELLENT registry – Interim analysis
2021
Introduction EXCELLENT (NCT03685578) is a prospective, single-arm, multicenter, real-world international registry of mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for stroke with the EmboTrap device as first line treatment. The study entails thrombus analysis of specimens collected with each MT pass. Aim of the Study To compare rates of mRS 0–2 at 90 days and clot characteristics in subjects with and without first pass effect (FPE). Methods FPE was defined as mTICI 2c/3 after one pass and non-FPE as mTICI 2c/3 after >1 pass as adjudicated by an independent core lab. Clot analysis was performed by independent central labs blinded to clinical data. mRS at 90 days was scored by investigators blinded to procedu…
