Estimulantes y Activadores de la Guanilato Ciclasa en el Tratamiento del Asma y la Enfermedad Pulmonar Obstructiva Crónica

2022

IDENTIFICATION AND FUNCTIONAL CHARACTERIZATION OF GPCR23/LPA4 AS A CANDIDATE G PROTEIN-COUPLED RECEPTOR FOR GUANOSINE

2014

G protein biased signaling by non-catechol dopamine D1 receptor agonists

2020

Dopamine is a catecholamine neurotransmitter with essential roles in voluntary movement, working memory, attention, and reward. Dopamine acts through five G protein coupled receptors with the D1 and D5 receptors (D1R) stimulating Galphas/olf activation and increasing neuronal excitability. Deficits in D1R signaling are implicated in Parkinson’s disease motor deficits as well as cognitive deficits in schizophrenia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. For more than 40 years, academic and industry scientists have been searching for a drug-like D1R agonist, but this has remained elusive. The challenge in developing D1R selective agonists is that all previous agonists possess a common p…

Infection dynamics of two renal myxozoans in hatchery reared fry and juvenile Atlantic cod Gadus morhua L.

2010

SUMMARYIn order to study the infection dynamics of 2 renal myxozoans, Zschokkella hildae Auerbach, 1910 and Gadimyxa atlanticaKøie, Karlsbakk and Nylund, 2007 in cultured Atlantic cod, Gadus morhua L. aged 3–19 months, a specific single-round PCR assay and a double-label in situ hybridization protocol were developed. The results demonstrated that the 2 myxozoans show spatial separation of their development with regard to spore formation inside the renal tubules versus the collecting ducts and ureters, as well as temporal separation with Z. hildae proliferating and developing spores only once the G. atlantica infection decreases, despite the presence of both myxozoans in the smallest fry stu…

2′,5′-oligoadenylate synthetase from a lower invertebrate, the marine sponge Geodia cydonium, does not need dsRNA for its enzymatic activity

2002

AbstractRecently, the presence of 2′,5′-linked oligoadenylates and a high 2′,5′-oligoadenylate synthetase activity were discovered in a lower invertebrate, the marine sponge Geodia cydonium. It has been demonstrated that mammalian 2–5A synthetase isozymes require a dsRNA cofactor for their enzymatic activity. Our results show that, unlike mammalian 2–5A synthetases, the 2–5A synthetase from the sponge acts in a dsRNA-independent manner in vitro. A prolonged incubation of the G. cydonium extract with a high concentration of a micrococcal nuclease had no effect on the activity of the 2–5A synthetase. At the same time, the micrococcal nuclease was effective within 30 min in degrading dsRNA nee…

Expression of retinoic acid nuclear receptors in the mouse embryonal carcinoma cell line PCC7-Mz1

1992

Mouse embryonal carcinoma cell line PCC7-Mz1 can serve as a model of mammalian neural development [1989, J. Cell. Biol. 109, 2481-2493]. Upon exposure to all-trans retinoic acid (RA), Mz1 cells differentiate into a stable pattern of neurons, astroglia and fibroblasts whereas variants of the parental cell line either are restricted in their patterns of derivatives or do not respond at all to RA. Using gene probes specific for the alpha 1, alpha 2 and beta 2 isoforms of the retinoic acid nuclear receptor, we have studied by Northern blot analysis the expression of these transcription factors in uninduced and induced cells of clone Mz1 and in variants with different developmental potential. al…

The Cellular Function of the Usher Gene Product Myosin VIIa is Specified by Its Ligands

2003

Defects in myosin Vlla are responsible for Usher Syndrome 1B (Weil et al., 1995). Human Usher syndrome (USH), named after the British ophthalmologist Charles Usher (Usher, 1914), is the most common hereditary form of combined blind-and deafness (~ 50% of cases in the developed countries). USH designates a group of clinically and genetically heterogeneous disorders with hearing loss and retinitis pigmentosa (RP). Three different USH types (USH1, 2 and 3; see Table 1) can be distinguished according to the degree of clinical symptomes. USH1 is the most severe subtype, characterized by severe to profound congenital sensorineuronal deafness, constant vestibular dysfunction (balance deficiency) a…

Bis(imidazolium) salts derived from amino acids as receptors and transport agents for chloride anions

2015

The binding properties of bis(imidazolium) hosts 1a–c derived from amino acids towards different anions have been studied by 1H NMR titration experiments in 95 : 05 CD3CN : H2O at 303 K, ESI-MS and theoretical calculations. Among this family, the salt 1c showed a strong and high selectivity for chloride anions. Transmembrane chloride transport activity has also been studied for the three bis(imidazolium) based transporters in POPC liposome models, and compound 1a was identified as an active chloride/nitrate exchanger.

WiWeHAR: Multimodal Human Activity Recognition Using Wi-Fi and Wearable Sensing Modalities

2020

Robust and accurate human activity recognition (HAR) systems are essential to many human-centric services within active assisted living and healthcare facilities. Traditional HAR systems mostly leverage a single sensing modality (e.g., either wearable, vision, or radio frequency sensing) combined with machine learning techniques to recognize human activities. Such unimodal HAR systems do not cope well with real-time changes in the environment. To overcome this limitation, new HAR systems that incorporate multiple sensing modalities are needed. Multiple diverse sensors can provide more accurate and complete information resulting in better recognition of the performed activities. This article…
