Battery energy storage systems (BESS) are becoming increasingly widespread in modern power systems, thanks to the important benefits they can provide to the electricity grid. Indeed, BESS can be used in time shifting applications, storing energy during off-peak periods and discharging during peak times (when the cost of electricity is high). When BESS are used for peak shaving purposes, they also contribute to relieve peak demand charges, thus ensuring a saving for the consumers. Iterative Learning Applied to Hydraulic Pressure Control

This paper addresses a performance limiting phenomenon that may occur in the pressure control of hydraulic actuators subjected to external velocity disturbances. It is demonstrated that under certain conditions a severe peaking of the control error may be observed that significantly degrades the performance of the system due to the presence of nonlinearities. The phenomenon is investigated numerically and experimentally using a system that requires pressure control of two hydraulic cylinders. This thesis is 1) an discourse analysis of the institution' texts (Algeria, in the eighties) + analysis of the young people in secondary school (part I) ; 2) a semiotic analysis of spaces in Algeria (country, village, secondary school). The results : we showed many contraints in a collective speech, through 2 dominant themas : time, action ; and 2 recessive themas : subject (speaker), mirror. So, education and didactic perspective are useful.

Pētījuma mērķis bija izpētīt trauksmi publiskās uzstāšanās laikā vīriešiem un sievietēm un to saistību ar personības iezīmēm. Piedalījās 60 respondenti (31 sieviete un 29 vīrieši, tajā skaitā 34skolēni un 26 strādājošie). Pētījumā tika izmantota Spīlbergera trauksmes aptauja (State-Traid Anxiety Inventory / STAI/ Spilberger, 1983) ar pielāgotu instrukciju un Lielā Piecnieka aptauja (Big Five Inventory, BFI, Benet-Martines & John, 1998). Aptauju rezultāti liecināja, ka nepastāv dzimumatšķirības trauksmē publiskas uzstāšanās laikā. Effect of Sex, Body Mass Index and Physical Activity Level on Peak Oxygen Uptake Among 14–19 Years Old Adolescents

The aim was to describe longitudinal trends in peak oxygen uptake (VO2peak) among 14- to 19-year-old adolescents in Norway, and to examine effects of sex, body mass index (BMI), and physical activity (PA) level on VO2peak during adolescence. Of 124 invited students from two lower secondary schools in Norway, 116 eighth-grade students (61 boys and 55 girls; 14 years old at baseline) volunteered to participate. The study has a longitudinal design with 6 yearly repeated measures of body height and mass, VO2peak and PA level. Cross country skiing is known as an endurance sport and both aerobic and anaerobic systems have a major impact on performance in cross country skiers. Coaches and athletes use periodized training programs to optimize physiological adaptations and increase performance. Knowing how the major aerobic and anaerobic variables change during the course of one ski season will allow better implementation of training programs.
