The main aim of this paper is to consider from different points of view the thesis of a conservative character of Peirce’s thought. The paper consists of two parts. In the first part, arguments for Peirce’s conservatism are presented. They are of two kinds: inner ones (Peirce’s own declarations) and outer ones (a comparison of Peirce’s view o the views of two other classical pragmatists: James and Dewey). The second part of the paper is devoted to counterarguments – the main one is the fact that Peirce is an author of the conception of an unlimited community of inquirers. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli tutkia pedagogista näkökulmaa kommunikatiiviseen kielitaitoon, joka on syrjäyttämässä vanhaa kielikäsitystä kielestä pelkkänä sanoista ja rakenteista rakentuvana systeeminä. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli myös erityisesti tarkastella, miten kommunikatiivisempi käsitys kielestä on vaikuttanut keskipitkän ruotsin ylioppilaskokeen kirjallisen osan sanasto- ja rakenneosion osatehtävään 2.2. Through the analysis of texts written between the 4th century BC and the 2nd century AD, the article reconstructs the emergence in ancient Greece of two opposing paradigms of the doctor-patient relationship, one based on dialogue and persuasion (peithó), and the other on the imposition of authority. In particular, the latter model proves to be amply suited to illustrating, in various Greek literature texts – and first of all the political dialogues of Plato –, the relationship between those who hold political power and those subjected to it.
