Ylikuormitusta, lähijohtajan tuen puutetta vai vääränlaisia tehtäviä : miksi yhä useammat vanhustyöntekijät harkitsevat työnsä lopettamista?

2021

Yhä useampi suomalainen vanhustyöntekijä harkitsee nykyisen työnsä lopettamis-ta. Artikkelin mukaan työntekijöiden psykofyysinen kuormitus on selvästi keskeisin lopettamisaikeita ennustava tekijä. Lisäksi lopettamisaikeita ennustavat epäkohdat työn sisällössä ja lähijohtamisessa. Nuoret, yrityksissä työskentelevät, osa-aikatyötä tekevät ja yli kahden vuoden hoitotyön koulutuksen saaneet vanhustyöntekijät har-kitsivat työnsä lopettamista muita vastaajia tavallisemmin. Increasing numbers of employees working in the care of older people in Finland are seriously considering leaving their jobs. This article examines factors that predict care workers’ leaving intentions. The data consist of NORDC…

Being able to provide sufficiently good care for older people: care workers and their working conditions in Finland

2023

This study examines whether care workers in Finland feel able to provide adequate care for older people and analyses the working conditions that limit them from providing it. One third of the respondents felt that they were not able to provide sufficient care for older people. This was seen as being due to excessive workloads, a general lack of staff and accompanying physical and mental burdens. Improving care workers’ working conditions would enhance their work–life balance and allow them to help older people avoid situations of care poverty, that is, to receive the level of care they deserve.

Care for People with Disabilities in Italy: A Critical Analysis of Act 112/2016 on Assistance for People with Serious Disabilities Lacking Family Sup…

2019

The paper focuses on the issue of care assistance for people with disabilities in Italy, examining the recent Act n. 112 adopted by the Italian Parliament in June 2016 and entitled “Measures in the field of assistance for people with serious disabilities lacking family support” (Disposizioni in materia di assistenza in favore delle persone con disabilità grave prive del sostegno familiare). In particular, I explore whether and how this legislative intervention effectively meets the needs of people with disabilities, especially with regard to their right to live independently and be included in the community as provided by Article 19 of the 2006 UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Di…

Development of a European consensus from dentists, dental hygienists and physicians on a standard for oral health care in care-dependent older people…

2020

ObjectivesThis study aimed to obtain a consensus on oral health policy, access to dental care, oral hygiene measures and training levels.BackgroundPoor oral health is widespread in care-dependent older people, but no consensus for a minimum standard of oral health care exists yet.MethodsThe e-Delphi approach was applied to a selected panel of interdisciplinary experts. Data analysis was based on three measurements: (a) ≥70% of experts’ opinion fall into category “agree or strongly agree,” (b) median score on the 5-point Likert scale ≥4, (c) interquartile range ≤1.ResultsA total of 31 experts from 17 European countries participated in this survey. Agreement was achieved for a compulsory dent…

Investigations on the geographical variability of the human transferrins.

1971

On the basis of own and from the widely scattered literature compiled materials the geographical distribution of the transferrin alleles is discussed. They reveal a characteristic distribution pattern, as the slow Tf variants produced by TfD alleles are obviously more frequent in tropical than in non-tropical populations. Considering similar results in cattle and its interpretation by Ashton (1958, 1965), it is hypothesized, that the relatively high TfΓ frequencies in tropical biotops might be a selective adaptation to their special climatic conditions. In this connection an association between slowly moving transferrin proteins in man and tolerance to hotter climates — as could be found in…

I Rom al cinema: Emir Kusturica e Tony Gatlif

2013

Il paper analizza alcune rappresentazioni cinematografiche dal (e sul) mondo Rom, guardando a tali rappresentazioni non soltanto nella loro valenza artistica, ma anche come rilevanti testimonianze sociologiche. This paper analyzes some cinematic representations from the (and about the) romanì world. This paper aims to cast a look over the cinematic narrations not only as artistic representations, but also as sociologically relevant evidences. The paper also invites us to undertake a thorough reflection over the issues related to the cultural identity of the romanì people; over the relations between them and the settled population and, finally, over the ways in which the many musks of the ro…

The ATXN1 and TRIM31 genes are related to intelligence in an ADHD background: evidence from a large collaborative study totaling 4,963 subjects

2010

Contains fulltext : 96400.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Closed access) Intelligence is a highly heritable trait for which it has proven difficult to identify the actual genes. In the past decade, five whole-genome linkage scans have suggested genomic regions important to human intelligence; however, so far none of the responsible genes or variants in those regions have been identified. Apart from these regions, a handful of candidate genes have been identified, although most of these are in need of replication. The recent growth in publicly available data sets that contain both whole genome association data and a wealth of phenotypic data, serves as an excellent resource for fine mapping and …

Association between osteocalcin and cognitive performance in healthy older adults.

2016

INTRODUCTION: cognitive deterioration and reductions of bone health coincide with increasing age. We examine the relationship between bone composition and plasma markers of bone remodelling with measures of cognitive performance in healthy adults.METHODS: this cross-sectional study included 225 old (52% women, mean age: 74.4 ± 3.3 years) and 134 young (52% women, mean age: 23.4 ± 2.7 years) adult participants from the MyoAge project. Whole body bone mineral density was measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Blood analyses included a panel of bone-related peptides (dickkopf-1, osteoprotegerin, osteocalcin (OC), osteopontin, sclerostin, parathyroid hormone and fibroblast growth factor …
