Postępujący proces starzenia się polskiego społeczeństwa wpływa na zwiększające się zapotrzebowanie na usługi zdrowotne i opiekuńcze. Aby wykazać, w których regionach kraju istnieją największe możliwości rozwoju prywatnej inicjatywy w zakresie świadczenia usług zdrowotnych i opiekuńczych, opracowano diagnozę stopnia zaspokojenia tych potrzeb osób starszych (65+) w poszczególnych województwach w Polsce w 2015 r. Człowiek i życie społeczne wymagają norm, do których mogą się odnosić w sposób pewny. Trendy i światopoglądy szybko się zmieniają, następują kolejno jedne po drugich. Wartością trwałą i niezmienną, na którą wskazuje Janusz Franciszek Mazurek, jest ludzka godność. Mazurek jest przedstawicielem szkoły lubelskiej, który z pojęcia godności uczynił centralny temat swojej naukowej refleksji. Jest to dla niego wartość ontyczna człowieka, która staje się normą odniesienia w ocenie wszelkich działań człowieka i względem niego. Omawiając tę problematykę, odnosi się do szerokiej perspektywy, sięgając m.in. do dokumentów międzynarodowych, myśli filozoficznej czy katolickiej nauki społecznej.

This article combines the neo-Hegelian theory of recognition with an analysis of social pathologies to show how the populist formulations of political goals in struggles for recognition are – despite their potential positive motivating force – socially pathological. The concept of recognition, combined with the idea of social pathologies, can thus be used to introduce normative considerations into the populism analysis. In this article it is argued that, although populism is useful in the sense that it aims to ameliorate real experienced lack of recognition through fostering political movements, it is also harmful. Touching in care work is inevitable, particularly in cases where clients depend on nurses for many activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, lifting and assisting. When new technologies are involved in nurse–client relationships, the significance of human touch needs special attention.
