Bruk av e-læring i spesialisthelsetjenesten - hva nå?

2014

Masteroppgave i helse- og sosialinformatikk HSI 500 Universitetet i Agder 2014 Background The demand for efficiency and collaboration in the health care industry is ever increasing. There are requirements for increased skills among health care workers. Web-based learning is a form of training that is increasingly used. The purpose of this study was to review the use of web-based learning in specialist health care services. This study aims to answer following research questions: 1) How well is it facilitated for web based learning in the health care industry, 2) How is web-based learning perceive by the user, and 3) What are the learning outcomes after having conducted web-based learning. Me…

Ecological risk assessment of pesticides in the Mijares River (eastern Spain) impacted by citrus production using wide-scope screening and target qua…

2021

The widespread use of pesticides, especially in agricultural areas, makes necessary to control their presence in surrounding surface waters. The current study was designed to investigate the occurrence and ecological risks of pesticides and their transformation products in a Mediterranean river basin impacted by citrus agricultural production. Nineteen sites were monitored in three campaigns distributed over three different seasons. After a qualitative screening, 24 compounds was selected for subsequent quantitative analysis. As expected, the lower section of the river was most contaminated, with total concentration >5 µg/L in two sites near to the discharge area of wastewater treatment pla…

Alien Insect Impact on Cultural Heritage and Landscape: an Underestimated Problem

2017

The impact of alien invasive insects on cultural heritage and landscapes is very often neglected; even though, more than 50% of species that threaten cultural heritage in Europe are of exotic origin. In addition they are more aggressive. Several examples and a description, are given of the most dangerous alien insects present in heritage sites that constitute a risk for the conservation of cultural property: museum collections, libraries, archives and historic buildings. Globalisation has increased this phenomenon but traces of the accidental introduction of insect pests have occurred since Roman times. The paper discusses the need to implement an estimation of the costs that arise from the…

A distinct section of the early bronze age society? Stable isotope investigations of burials in settlement pits and multiple inhumations of the Úněti…

2015

OBJECTIVES: Inhumations in so-called settlement pits and multiple interments are subordinate burial practices of the Early Bronze Age Unětice culture in central Germany (2200-1700/1650 BC). The majority of the Unětice population was entombed as single inhumations in rectangular grave pits with a normative position of the body. The goal of the study was to test archaeological hypotheses that the deviant burials may represent socially distinct or nonlocal individuals. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study comprised up to two teeth and one bone each of 74 human individuals from eight sites and faunal comparative samples. The inhumations included regular, deviant burials in so-called settlement or s…

Can a snow structure model estimate snow characteristics relevant to reindeer husbandry?

2014

Snow affects foraging conditions of reindeer e.g. by increasing the energy expenditures for moving and digging work or, in contrast, by making access of arboreal lichen easier. Still the studies concentrating on the role of the snow pack structure on reindeer population dynamics and reindeer management are few. We aim to find out which of the snow characteristics are relevant for reindeer in the northern boreal zone according to the experiences of reindeer herders and is this relevance seen also in reproduction rate of reindeer in this area. We also aim to validate the ability of the snow model SNOWPACK to reliably estimate the relevant snow structure characteristics. We combined meteorolog…

Modeling of female human body shapes for apparel design based on cross mean sets

2014

This paper is concerned with a method to build prototypes of human bodies that can be used for apparel design. One of the most important issues in the apparel development process is to define a sizing system to provide a good fitting for the majority of the population. Since anthropometric measures do not present the same linear growth with size in each dimension, it is very important to find a prototype that represents as accurately as possible each class in the sizing system. In this paper we propose a method based on the concept of random compact mean set to define prototypes in apparel design. From a cloud of 3D points obtained with a 3D scanner a solid that represents the human body is…

Translationsstrategien in Texten der Evangelisierung und der indigenen Rechtsprechung in Neu-Spanien

2021

ZusammenfassungThis paper sets out to reconstruct concepts of translation between Spanish and indigenous languages that were prevalent in religious as well as notarial contexts in colonial Mexico (more specifically in a district within the state of Oaxaca) between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries. To this end, we analyse Christian doctrinal texts translated from Spanish into the Zapotec language by Dominican friars in order to propagate the Christian faith, as well as notarial texts in the form of testaments written in Zapotec by the indigenous population and translated into Spanish in order to be submitted as evidence in court. We pay particular attention to the use and translation o…

Larval Arrest in Development of Tribolium castaneum (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)

1986

Arrested larval development (in the last larval instar) of part of the total larval population has been detected in moderately crowded situations (40 larvae in 2 g food) in Tribolium castaneum (Herbst) cultures This phenomenon is the same found previously in highly crowded cultures of Drosophila melanogaster (Meigen) and other related species. The arrest may be viewed as a mechanism of physiological adaptation of organisms to competitive situations.

Population and Query Interface for a Content-Based Video Database

2002

In this paper we describe the first full implementation of a content-based indexing and retrieval system for MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 videos. We consider a video as a collection of spatiotemporal segments called video objects; each video object is a sequence of video object planes. A set of representative video object planes is used to index each video object. During the database population, the operator, using a semi-automatic outlining tool we developed, manually selects video objects and insert some semantical information. Low-level visual features like color, texture, motion and geometry are automatically computed. The system has been implemented on a commercial relational DBMS and is based on…
