Marketing strategy, social responsibility, and value chain in the agri-food system

2020

The agri-food sector has changed significantly over the years, moving from a simple production system to a more and more industrialized one. For agents/operators involved in this sector, ensuring product quality and environmental externalities has become the key point to gaining a competitive advantage. In this context, corporate social responsibility (CSR) fits perfectly. This study analyzes the influence of CSR practices on the economic performance of a random sample of 130 agri-food companies in Italy. The results of an analysis of multiple linear regression models show that the economic performance (measured through value added and income) of agri-food enterprises seems to be influenced…

A Study into the Integration of ICT into a Business Management Course: Challenges and Achievements

2012

Nowadays, the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) play an increasingly important role in education. Indeed, ICT are considered as very useful pedagogic tools, and multimedia resources are constantly being created, updated and shared by university members worldwide. This paper deals with a case of study exploring the way in which the integration of ICT impacts learning in the context of a business management course at the Universitat de València (UV), in Spain. The results of the study point out the need for academic staff and students to acquire the appropriate knowledge and to develop the skills required for an efficient and effective use of ICT in higher education. Offshore Assets in the Transition from ‘Traditional Business Practice’ to ‘Connected Business Eco-systems’

2020

In many industrial sectors we have already begun to see how new business ecosystems gradually emerge turning the traditional business practices upside down. Particularly within relatively conventional sectors, such as upstream oil and gas (O&G) and land-based process industry, we expect to see substantial changes in the years to come. In this paper, we elaborate on principal challenges related to major structural changes and core technology platforms for the oil industry identifying critical features and elaborating on emerging operational principles. This is based on a critical review of latest industry conditions and practices that are targeted towards the creation of new business models …

Information Systems Students’ Impressions on Learning Modeling Enterprise Architectures

2020

This Full Research Paper presents enterprise architecture (EA) modeling tools utilized in an educational context. EA is a well-known and a commonly used approach for organizational development aiming to improve the alignment of business operations and information technology. This high level design of information technology (IT) driven business operations lays the foundations on lower level technical activities such as the design and implementation of application programs and features, system boundary interfaces, database distribution and data pipes, and system recovery. Organizations’ architectures are made visible by creating EA artefacts, such as business process diagrams, data models and…

Nelikumīgas būvniecības seku novēršana

2017

Competitive interactions are mediated in a sex-specific manner by arbuscular mycorrhiza inAntennaria dioica

2017

Plants usually interact with other plants, and the outcome of such interaction ranges from facilitation to competition depending on the identity of the plants, including their sexual expression. Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi have been shown to modify competitive interactions in plants. However, few studies have evaluated how AM fungi influence plant intraspecific and interspecific interactions in dioecious species. The competitive abilities of female and male plants of Antennaria dioica were examined in a greenhouse experiment. Females and males were grown in the following competitive settings: (i) without competition, (ii) with intrasexual competition, (iii) with intersexual competitio…

Relationship between score and coaches’ verbal behavior

2013

Calpe V, Guzman J, Grijalbo C. Relationship between score and coaches’ verbal behaviour. J. Hum. Sport Exerc. Vol. 8, No. Proc3, pp. S728-S737, 2013. The way the coach act the most during the development of the game is meanwhile verbal behaviour directed to their players (Moreno et al., 2000), being it influenced by his own cognitions, motivations, and emotions, together with players behaviours and playing situation (Borrie, 1996; Smoll & Smith, 1989). The aim of this study was to analyse the relationship between a situational variable, the score during the game, and verbal behaviour of handball coaches in competitive situation. To do this, five coaches were analysed in five games. Two vari…

7C: Computational Chromosome Conformation Capture by Correlation of ChIP-seq at CTCF motifs.

2019

Abstract Background Knowledge of the three-dimensional structure of the genome is necessary to understand how gene expression is regulated. Recent experimental techniques such as Hi-C or ChIA-PET measure long-range chromatin interactions genome-wide but are experimentally elaborate, have limited resolution and such data is only available for a limited number of cell types and tissues. Results While ChIP-seq was not designed to detect chromatin interactions, the formaldehyde treatment in the ChIP-seq protocol cross-links proteins with each other and with DNA. Consequently, also regions that are not directly bound by the targeted TF but interact with the binding site via chromatin looping are…

CD36 involvement in orosensory detection of dietary lipids, spontaneous fat preference, and digestive secretions

2005

International audience; Rats and mice exhibit a spontaneous attraction for lipids. Such a behavior raises the possibility that an orosensory system is responsible for the detection of dietary lipids. The fatty acid transporter CD36 appears to be a plausible candidate for this function since it has a high affinity for long-chain fatty acids (LCFAs) and is found in lingual papillae in the rat. To explore this hypothesis further, experiments were conducted in rats and in wild-type and CD36-null mice. In mice, RT-PCR experiments with primers specific for candidate lipid-binding proteins revealed that only CD36 expression was restricted to lingual papillae although absent from the palatal papill…
