Intermolecular oxidative dehydrogenative 3,3′-coupling of benzo[b]furans and benzo[b]thiophenes promoted by DDQ/H+: total synthesis of shandougenine B

With an excess of a strong acid, 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-quinone (DDQ) is shown to promote metal-free intermolecular oxidative dehydrogenative (ODH) 3,3'-coupling of 2-aryl-benzo[b]furans and 2-aryl-benzo[b]thiophenes up to 92% yield as demonstrated with 9 substrates. Based on the analysis of oxidation potentials and molecular orbitals combined with EPR, NMR and UV-Vis observations, the studied reaction is initiated by a DDQ-substrate charge transfer complex and presumably proceeds via oxidation of the substrate into an electrophilic radical cation that further reacts with another molecule of a neutral substrate. Pot-Economy Autooxidative Condensation of 2-Aryl-2-lithio-1,3-dithianes

The autoxidative condensation of 2-aryl-2-lithio-1,3-dithianes is here reported. Treatment of 2-aryl-1,3-dithianes with n-BuLi in the absence of any electrophile leads to condensation of three molecules of 1,3-dithianes and formation of highly functionalized α-thioether ketones orthothioesters in 51-89% yields upon air exposure. The method was further expanded to benzaldehyde dithioacetals, affording corresponding orthothioesters and α-thioether ketones in 48-97% yields. Petagnaea gussonei (Apiaceae) is a perennial herbaceous species endemic to northeast Sicily (Nebrodi Mountains). It is considered a remnant of the Sicilian Tertiary flora, and is endangered according to the Red List. There is no information in the literature about the germinability of its seeds, even though seed production is know to occur. The aim of this study was to obtain data to better understand seed germination of this species and its biological implications. Thus, several approaches were employed: vitality analyses, gibberellic acid supply, germination and soil microbial flora analyses via end-point and qPCR. Aim: The aim was to compare the imaging findings of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) PET and integrated PET/CT in patients with primary, recurrent or metastatic ovarian cancer. Materials and methods. 21 women with ovarian cancer were evaluated. All patients had a integrated PET/CT scan. Localization, infiltration and uptake intensity of [18F]FDG were evaluated on PET and PET/CT. The certainty of localisation and characterisation was scored on a 3 point scale (L1 definite localisation; L2 probable localisation; L3 uncertain localisation; C1 benign; C2 equivocal; C3 malignant). Tässä tutkimuksessa selvitän Jyväskylän kansakouluopettajaseminaarin opiskelijoiden kulttuurisosiaalisia taustoja sekä niiden ilmentymistä seminaarin opetuksessa 1920- ja 1930-luvuilla. Kulttuurisosiaalisella taustalla tarkoitan opiskelijoiden sosioekonomista asemaa ennen seminaariin tuloa. Kulttuurisosiaalisen taustan muodostavat opiskelijan sosiaalinen tausta, taustakoulutus sekä se, miltä paikkakunnalta hän on kotoisin. Sosiaalisella taustalla tarkoitetaan tutkimuksessa opiskelijan perhetaustaan pohjautuvaa yhteiskunnallista sosiaalista statusta. Laulunopetus oli keskeinen oppiaine kansakoulussa koko sen toiminnan ajan. 1950-luvun lopulla oppiaine alkoi hitaasti muuttua musiikinopetuksen suuntaan Orff-soittimiston tullessa osaksi opetusta. Tutkielman tarkoitus on selvittää miten koulusoitinten tulo näkyi kansakoulunopettajien valmistuksessa. Tutkielma keskittyy lukuvuoden 1963-1964 musiikin pedagogiikkaan Helsingin opettajakorkeakoulussa ja keskeinen lähde tässä työssä on alkuperäinen opiskelijan muistiinpanoaineisto Ellen Urhon pitämiltä luennoilta.
