[EN] The "Neutrino Experiment with a Xenon Time-Projection Chamber" (NEXT) is intended to investigate the neutrinoless double beta decay of Xe-136, which requires a severe suppression of potential backgrounds. An extensive screening and material selection process is underway for NEXT since the control of the radiopurity levels of the materials to be used in the experimental set-up is a must for rare event searches. Apkopota literatūras informācija par medijpratības problēmu Latvijā, medijpratības nozīmi kompetenču pieejās balstītā izglītībā. Praktiski veiktas mācību stundas, kurās, sasaistot ar mācību tematiem, tika veicināta medijpratība. Tiešās uztveres metodes, kas iekļauj pētnieciski praktiskās metodes (pētījumi, eksperimenti, spēles) un uzskates metodes (demonstrēšana, vizualizēšana), un netiešās uztveres metodes, diskusija, lasīšana ar izpratni, problēmu risināšana, ir atbilstošas un piemērotas medijpratības veicināšanai.

International audience; Humans appear to be refractory to some effects of peroxisome proliferators including alterations in cell proliferation, whereas rodents are susceptible. In this study, differences between the human and rat response to peroxisome proliferators were evaluated using rat and human tumour liver cell lines. Rat 7777 cells were more responsive than human HepG2 cells to ciprofibrate as they exhibited a higher decrease in cell number than HepG2, and underwent apoptosis. Study of biocompatibility of peritoneal dialysis solutions measured as in vitro cells viability

This paper presents the comparable viability study results of the HepG2 and Vero cells in the presence of traditional peritoneal dialysis (PD) solutions determined by three methods (3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol]-2-yl-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT), neutral red (NR) and sulforhodamine B assays) with establishing different correlations between viability and quality indexes of the tested PD solutions. The obtained results confirmed cytotoxicity of the PD solutions even compared with an isotonic solution of sodium chloride. AbstractA gastropod fauna has been studied from upper Pliensbachian – upper Toarcian deposits of two sections of the Causses Basin (southern France) in order to investigate the mode of recovery after the early Toarcian anoxic event. The fauna consists of 15 species, one of which is new (Bathrotomaria kronzwilmesorumsp. nov.). Their stratigraphical distribution shows two peaks of diversity – in the Bifrons Zone (Bifrons Subzone) and in the Aalensis Zone (Mactra Subzone) – which reflect brief times during which the oxygen content and bottom consistency favoured the settlement of a relatively diversified fauna.
