Cs3UP2S8, a Coordination Polymer Containing the Unprecedented [U=S]2+Sulfidouranium(2+) Moiety
2013
Although terminal chalcogeno ligands are well known for the group 5 and 6 transition metals, they are highly unusual for the oxophilic group 4 metals and unknown so far for the lanthanides or actinides. Cs3UP2S8, is the first actinide compound containing a terminal M=S group. It was synthesized by reacting uranium metal, Cs2S, S, and P2S5 in a 4:1:8:3 ratio at 700 °C in an eutectic LiCl/CsCl mixture. The crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. Cs3UP2S8 crystallizes in the rhombohedral space group R [a = 15.5217(8) A; c = 35.132(2) A, V = 8305.0(8) A3, Z = 18]. The crystal structure is based on a tetrahedral network type, wherein the uranium atoms are…
Coordinatively Unsaturated Lanthanide(III) Helicates: Luminescence Sensors for Adenosine Monophosphate in Aqueous Media
2016
Coordinatively unsaturated double-stranded helicates [(H2 L)2 Eu2 (NO3 )2 (H2 O)4 ](NO3 )4 , [(H2 L)2 Tb2 (H2 O)6 ](NO3 )6 , and [(H2 L)2 Tb2 (H2 O)6 ]Cl6 (H2 L=butanedioicacid-1,4-bis[2-(2-pyridinylmethylene)hydrazide]) are easily obtained by self-assembly from the ligand and the corresponding lanthanide(III) salts. The complexes are characterized by X-ray crystallography showing the helical arrangement of the ligands. Co-ligands at the metal ions can be easily substituted by appropriate anions. A specific luminescence response of AMP in presence of ADP, ATP, and other anions is observed. Specificity is assigned to the perfect size match of AMP to bridge the two metal centers and to replac…
Enhanced levels of S-linalool by metabolic engineering of the terpenoid pathway in spike lavender leaves
2013
Transgenic Lavandula latifolia plants overexpressing the linalool synthase (LIS) gene from Clarkia breweri, encoding the LIS enzyme that catalyzes the synthesis of linalool were generated. Most of these plants increased significantly their linalool content as compared to controls, especially in the youngest leaves, where a linalool increase up to a 1000% was observed. The phenotype of increased linalool content observed in young leaves was maintained in those T1 progenies that inherit the LIS transgene, although this phenotype was less evident in the flower essential oil. Cross-pollination of transgenic spike lavender plants allowed the generation of double transgenic plants containing the …
Raman spectroscopic study of some lead phosphate glasses with tungsten ions
2006
Abstract The structure of x WO 3 · (100 − x )[2P 2 O 5 · PbO] glass system with 0 ⩽ x ⩽ 50 mol% was investigated by Raman spectroscopy. The characteristic bands of these glasses due to the stretching and bending vibrations were identified and analyzed by the increasing of WO 3 content. This fact allowed us to identify the specific structural units which appear in these glasses and thus to point out the network modifier role of tungsten oxide for low concentrations and its former role at high concentrations.
A new N6 hexadentate ligand and a novel heptacoordinated N6O-type Fe(III) compounds: Synthesis, characterization and structure of [Fe(dimpyen)(OH)](A…
2011
Abstract In this contribution, we report the syntheses of a novel N6 donor set ligand, dimpyen = N1,N2-di[(1-methyl-1H-2-imidazolyl) methyl]-N1,N2-di(2-pyridilmethyl)-1,2-ethanediamine. This type of ligand was designed to modulate the properties of the metal ions bound to it. The reaction with Fe(II) gives off a new heptacoordinated iron(III) complex. We study the spectroscopic (UV–Vis), magnetic and electrochemical behavior and also made the structural determination with X-ray diffraction at 134 K and a heptacoordinated N6O-type derivative of Fe(III) is reported as well. This complex crystallize as perchlorate or hexafluorophosphate and the formula of these derivatives are [Fe(dimpyen)(OH)…
The minimal model of Hahn for the Calvin cycle.
2018
There are many models of the Calvin cycle of photosynthesis in the literature. When investigating the dynamics of these models one strategy is to look at the simplest possible models in order to get the most detailed insights. We investigate a minimal model of the Calvin cycle introduced by Hahn while he was pursuing this strategy. In a variant of the model not including photorespiration it is shown that there exists exactly one positive steady state and that this steady state is unstable. For generic initial data either all concentrations tend to infinity at lates times or all concentrations tend to zero at late times. In a variant including photorespiration it is shown that for suitable v…
Photoaffinity Labeling and Photoaffinity Cross-Linking of Phosphofructokinase-1 from Saccharomyces cerevisiae by 8-Azidoadeninenucleotides
2001
Phosphofructokinase-1 from Saccharomyces cerevisiae is composed of four alpha- and four beta-subunits, each of them carrying catalytic and regulatory bindings sites for MgATP. In this paper, various photoaffinity labels, such as 8-azidoadenosine 5'-triphosphate, 8-azido-1,N6-ethenoadenosine 5'-triphosphate, and 8-N3-3'(2')-O-biotinyl-8-azidoadenosine 5'-triphosphate have been used to study their interaction with the enzyme in the dark and during irradiation. All nucleotidetriphosphates function as phosphate donor forming fructose 1,6-bisphosphate from fructose 6-phosphate. However, the kinetic analysis revealed distinctly differences between them. Photolabeling causes a decrease in enzyme a…
Energy status and its control on embryogenesis of legumes: ATP distribution within Vicia faba embryos is developmentally regulated and correlated wit…
2003
To analyse the energy status of Vicia faba embryos in relation to differentiation processes, we measured ATP concentrations directly in cryosections using a quantitative bioluminescence-based imaging technique. This method provides a quantitative picture of the ATP distribution close to the in vivo situation. ATP concentrations were always highest within the axis. In pre-storage cotyledons, the level was low, but it increased strongly in the course of further development, starting from the abaxial region of cotyledons and moving towards the interior. Greening pattern, chlorophyll distribution and photosynthetic O2 production within embryos temporally and spatially corresponded to the ATP di…
Color change of the bleached enamel treated with calcium silicate- sodium phosphate-sodium monofluorophosphate-based system
2018
Background The increasing demand of tooth bleaching has also increased the need of researches focusing on the durability of the resultant color. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of a system based on calcium silicate, sodium phosphate and sodium monofluorophosphate (Regenerate™) on color maintenance of bleached enamel considering two waiting times for the contact with a cola drink. Material and Methods This in vitrostudy was performed on bovine enamel specimens (n = 100), bleached with 35% H2O2 and treated with: G1 Distilled water; G2 Artificial saliva; G3 RegenerateTM Serum and Toothpaste; G4 RegenerateTM Toothpaste; G5 RegenerateTM Serum. The groups G3, G4 and G5 received o…
