[1] The Tindari Fault System (southern Tyrrhenian Sea, Italy) is a regional zone of brittle deformation located at the transition between ongoing contractional and extensional crustal compartments and lying above the western edge of a narrow subducting slab. Onshore structural data, an offshore seismic reflection profile, and earthquake data are analyzed to constrain the present geometry of the Tindari Fault System and its tectonic evolution since Neogene, including the present seismicity. Active north-vergent thrusting in the northern Sicily continental margin in the frame of the quaternary evolution of the Sicilian collisional system

Abstract A three-stage evolution has characterized the Sicilian Fold and Thrust Belt (SFTB) during the last 15 My: two main thin-skinned shortening events involving mainly Meso-Cenozoic carbonate units, followed by thick-skinned thrusting involving Plio-Pleistocene deposits in the frontal area as well as the crystalline basement in the inner and deeper sector of the chain. Dažādu operatīvo dienestu darbinieku personības iezīmes IPIP-50 BFM skatījumā

Pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot, vai operatīvo dienestu darbiniekiem un citu profesiju pārstāvjiem pastāv statistiski nozīmīgas personības iezīmju atšķirības Latvijas kultūrvidē. Tika izvirzīti pētījuma jautājumi par operatīvā dienesta personības iezīmēm attiecībā vienam pret otru un citu profesiju pārstāvjiem IPIP – 50 Lielā Piecinieka marķieru (IPIP-50 BFM) un Īsās asu izjūtu meklēšanas skalas (BSSS) skatījumā. Pētījumā piedalījās 876 respondenti (676 operatīvo dienestu darbinieki un 200 citu profesiju pārstāvji) vecumā no 19 līdz 78 gadiem (M=37,88, SD=10,75). Rat PIPPin is probably part of a large complex of RNA-binding proteins

Throughout rat brain development, expression of histones variants is mainly regulated at the post-transcriptional level. We previously cloned two cDNAs encoding, respectively, PIPPin (or CSD-C2), a brain-enriched protein able to bind the 3’end of H1° and H3.3 mRNAs, and LPI (longer isoform of PEP-19). Both PEP-19 and LPI are brain-specific. By western blot, we found that PIPPin expression in PC12 cells is enhanced by NGF-induced differentiation. We investigated the RNA-binding properties of the three proteins using their 6 histidine-tagged recombinant fusions and found that they all bind H1° and H3.3 RNAs. Epifaniusz, biskup Salaminy na Cyprze w latach 376–403, należał do znaczących postaci w IV w. W działalności publicznej cechowała go radykalna postawa wobec prawd wiary, co bezpośrednio przekładało się na treść jego pism. Obok krytyki wszelkich przejawów heretyckiego myślenia zwalczał ponadto szerzący się wówczas kult obrazów. Taka opinia o nim stała się bardzo głośna dopiero w XX w., gdyż przed 100 laty, czyli w 1916 r., Karl Holl opublikował dosyć obszerne studium, w którym prezentuje tekst trzech utworów Epifaniusza potępiających oddawanie czci obrazom. Prediction of properties of chiral compounds by molecular topology

Abstract A common assumption in chemistry is that chiral behavior is associated with 3-D geometry. However, chiral information is related to symmetry, which allows the topological handling of chiral atoms by weighted graphs and the calculation of new descriptors that give a weight to the corresponding entry in the main diagonal of the topological matrix.
