RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) regulate intracellular transport, pre-localization, stability, and translation of mRNAs [1]. We previously identified a set of proteins which interact with mRNAs encoding H1° and H3.3 histones [2-5]. All these proteins are probably part of a ribonucleoprotein particle [6]. Here we report the results of a more detailed study on the expression and intracellular localization of some of these RBPs, such as hnRNP K and A1, and Hsc70, during rat brain development and in cultured rat astrocytes. Background: Naturally occurring variation in Membrane-bound O-acyltransferase domain-containing 7 (MBOAT7), encoding for an enzyme involved in phosphatidylinositol acyl-chain remodelling, has been associated with fatty liver and hepatic disorders. Here, we examined the relationship between hepatic Mboat7 down-regulation and fat accumulation. Methods: Hepatic MBOAT7 expression was surveyed in 119 obese individuals and in experimental models. Some alternative control strategies of currently emerging plant diseases are based on the use of resistance inducers. This review highlights the recent advances made in the characterization of natural compounds that induce resistance by a priming mechanism. These include vitamins, chitosans, oligogalacturonides, volatile organic compounds, azelaic and pipecolic acid, among others. Abstract The effect of substratum complexity on the early stages of colonization by mobile epifauna was assessed through a comparative study based on the architecture of artificial substrata. We conducted field observations over 4 years, on six types of small plastic substrata placed in the low intertidal zone of an exposed rocky shore, for varied immersion periods (1, 2, 4 and 12 wk).
