LeptonInjector and LeptonWeighter: A neutrino event generator and weighter for neutrino observatories

We present a high-energy neutrino event generator, called LeptonInjector, alongside an event weighter, called LeptonWeighter. Both are designed for large-volume Cherenkov neutrino telescopes such as IceCube. The neutrino event generator allows for quick and flexible simulation of neutrino events within and around the detector volume, and implements the leading Standard Model neutrino interaction processes relevant for neutrino observatories: neutrino-nucleon deep-inelastic scattering and neutrino-electron annihilation. In this paper, we discuss the event generation algorithm, the weighting algorithm, and the main functions of the publicly available code, with examples.
Detailed studies of $^{100}$Mo two-neutrino double beta decay in NEMO-3

The full data set of the NEMO-3 experiment has been used to measure the half-life of the two-neutrino double beta decay of $^{100}$Mo to the ground state of $^{100}$Ru, $T_{1/2} = \left[ 6.81 \pm 0.01\,\left(\mbox{stat}\right) ^{+0.38}_{-0.40}\,\left(\mbox{syst}\right) \right] \times10^{18}$ y. The two-electron energy sum, single electron energy spectra and distribution of the angle between the electrons are presented with an unprecedented statistics of $5\times10^5$ events and a signal-to-background ratio of ~80. Measurement of the Top Quark Mass Using the Matrix Element Technique in Dilepton Final States

We present a measurement of the top quark mass in ppbar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The data were collected by the D0 experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.7 fb-1. The matrix element technique is applied to ttbar events in the final state containing leptons (electrons or muons) with high transverse momenta and at least two jets. The calibration of the jet energy scale determined in the lepton + jets final state of ttbar decays is applied to jet energies. This correction provides a substantial reduction in systematic uncertainties. We obtain a top quark mass of mt = 173.93 +- 1.84 GeV.

Htid-1, the human counterpart of the Drosophila tumor suppressor gene lethal(2)tumorous imaginal discs (l(2)tid) encodes three splice forms translated into three cytosolic - Tid50, Tid48 and Tid46 - and three mitochondrial - Tid43, Tid40 and Tid38 - proteins. Here we provide evidence for the association of the endogenous Tid50/Tid48 proteins with the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) tumor suppressor in normal colon epithelium, colorectal cancer cells and mouse NIH3T3 fibroblasts. Using the Glutathione S-transferase binding assay we show that the N-terminal region including the Armadillo domain (ARM) of APC is sufficient to bind the Tid molecules. Lymphomas arising in the female genital tract are extremely uncommon. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and follicular lymphoma are the most common types. We describe the case of an 80-year-old woman with a recurrent lesion in the vulva initially diagnosed as a lymphoma-like lesion and evolving 7 years later into a marginal zone B-cell lymphoma (lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma). Diagnosis was based on the monotypic pattern of the plasmacellular component and the clonal rearrangement of immunoglobulin heavy chain genes. Background: High cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and plasma levels of homocysteine (HC) have been reported in certain neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s diseases and, recently, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Objectives: To assay the CSF and plasma levels of HC in ALS patients and controls, and to evaluate the relationship between HC levels and clinical variables of the disease.
