Thermal-hydraulic behaviour of the DEMO divertor plasma facing components cooling circuit

Abstract Within the framework of the Work Package DIV 1 – “Divertor Cassette Design and Integration” of the EUROfusion action, a research campaign has been jointly carried out by ENEA and University of Palermo to investigate the thermal-hydraulic performances of the DEMO divertor cassette cooling system. A comparative evaluation study has been performed considering three different options for the cooling circuit layout of the divertor Plasma Facing Components (PFCs). The design of the DONES lithium target system

Abstract In the framework of the EU fusion roadmap implementing activities, an accelerator-based Li(d,xn) neutron source called DONES (Demo-Oriented early NEutron Source) is being designed within the EUROfusion Work Package Early Neutron Source as an essential irradiation facility for testing candidate materials for DEMO reactor and future fusion power plants. Wronskian representation of solutions of NLS equation, and seventh order rogue wave.

This work is a continuation of a recent paper in which we have constructed a multi-parametric family of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation in terms of wronskians. When we perform a special passage to the limit, we get a family of quasi-rational solutions expressed as a ratio of two determinants. We have already construct Peregrine breathers of orders N=4, 5, 6 in preceding works; we give here the Peregrine breather of order seven.

EBIT diagnostics using X-ray spectra of highly ionized Ne

We have carried out a detailed analysis of highly ionized neon spectra collected at the NIST EBIT using an NTD germanium X-ray microcalorimeter developed at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics [Nucl. Instr. and Meth. A 444 (2000) 156]. Our attention was focused especially on the Ne IX He-like triplet to check electron density diagnostics through the intercombination/forbidden line ratio. We have investigated possible effects of the ion dynamics on the plasma emission line intensities, looking at the dependence of the count-rate and the charge state distribution on the electron beam energy and current. Three-dimensional splitting dynamics of giant vortices in Bose-Einstein condensates

We study the splitting dynamics of giant vortices in dilute Bose-Einstein condensates by numerically integrating the three-dimensional Gross-Pitaevskii equation in time. By taking advantage of tetrahedral tiling in the spatial discretization, we decrease the error and increase the reliability of the numerical method. An extensive survey of vortex splitting symmetries is presented for different aspect ratios of the harmonic trapping potential. The symmetries of the splitting patterns observed in the simulated dynamics are found to be in good agreement with predictions obtained by solving the dominant dynamical instabilities from the corresponding Bogoliubov equations. Atomic transition probabilities for selected Yb II lines emitted from a ferroelectric plasma source

The relative intensities of several hundred emission lines of Yb II between 200 nm and 900 nm were obtained with the use of ferroelectric plasma source. These relative intensities obtained for lines from 21 energy levels have been used to determine the line branching fractions, which have then been combined with accurate experimental radiative lifetime measurements to give absolute transition probabilities for 111 Yb II lines. The obtained values were compared with theoretical and experimental data taken from available literature.

Impact of buffer gas quenching on the $^1S_0$ $\to$ $^1P_1$ ground-state atomic transition in nobelium

International audience; Using the sensitive Radiation Detected Resonance Ionization Spectroscopy (RADRIS) techniquean optical transition in neutral nobelium (No, Z = 102) was identified. A remnant signal when delaying the ionizing laser indicated the influence of a strong buffer gas induced de-excitation of the optically populated level. A subsequent investigation of the chemical homologue, ytterbium (Yb, Z = 70), enabled a detailed study of the atomic levels involved in this process, leading to the development of a rate equation model. Critical review of the atomic spectrometric analysis of arsenic in foods

The literature on the determination of arsenic in foods by atomic spectroscopy involving hydride generation, platform furnace Zeeman and inductively coupled plasma has been critically reviewed. Hydride generation has been largely displaced as a powerful tool by platform furnace Zeeman, using the STPF (stabilized temperature platform furnace) concept for the control of interferences.
