Late Pleistocene vertebrate - bearing deposits at San Teodoro Cave (North-Eastern Sicily): Preliminary data on faunal diversification and chronology

Abstract This paper deals with the chronology and the possible correlations among levels of different excavated areas in the Pleistocene vertebrate-bearing deposits at the large San Teodoro Cave (North-Eastern Sicily). Two trenches have been excavated along the eastern side of the cave, located at a distance from the entrance, respectively, of 8 m ( α trench) and 28 m ( β trench) and at different depths. Se exponen los resultados obtenidos en el análisis de la asociación malacológica de dos muestras pertenecientes a la capa D del yacimiento del pleistoceno inferior de Barranco León (Cuenca de Guadix-Baza). Los principales resultados obtenidos son la relación de especies que componen la asociación malacológica y su abundancia relativa, que indican su marcado carácter acuático. Por otra parte, pese a las limitaciones impuestas por la escasez de información tafonómica y la cautela que sugieren ciertos indicadores, se aporta, a partir del análisis de las exigencias ecológicas de cada taxón, una interpretación paleoambiental sobre las condiciones existentes en el momento del depósito. Oxygen Atom Transfer Catalysis by Dioxidomolybdenum(VI) Complexes of Pyridyl Aminophenolate Ligands

A series of new cationic dioxidomolybdenum(VI) complexes [MoO2(Ln)]PF6 (2-5) with the tripodal tetradentate pyridyl aminophenolate ligands HL2-HL5 have been synthesized and characterized. Ligands HL2-HL4 carry substituents in the 4-position of the phenolate ring, viz. Cl, Br and NO2, respectively, whereas the ligand HL5, N-(2-hydroxy-3,5-di-tert-butylbenzyl)-N,N-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)amine, is a derivative of 3,5-di-tert-butylsalicylaldehyde. X-ray crystal structures of complexes 2, 3 and 5 reveal that they have a distorted octahedral geometry with the bonding parameters around the metal centres being practically similar. The present study assesses the presence and importance of conflicts in intercultural relationships that were created during an Erasmus exchange period abroad. The theoretical background is based upon the concepts of third culture building (TCB) and conflict management styles, both of which were used to explain the various stages of the relationship development. Si illustrano le misure degli spostamenti e delle pressioni neutre raccolte in un paio d’anni di osservazione del comportamento di un esteso corpo di frana in una formazione di argille varicolori in Sicilia. L’analisi delle misure raccolte indica che la riattivazione riguarda zone distinte del corpo di frana, nelle quali gli spostamenti si sviluppano con velocità e direzioni differenti. Novel platinum(II) complexes with heterociclyc ligands: Synthesis and structural chracterization.

An array of mononuclear complexes of Pt(II) with triazine and (benzimidazolyl)pyridine heterocycles is reported. The mononuclear complexes [PtCl2(Kdptdn)] [dbtdn=5,6- diphenyl-3-(2-pyridyl)-1,2,4-triazine-4’,4’’-disulfonate sodium salt hydrate], [PtCl2(bbp)] [bbp=2,6-bis(2-benzimidazolyl)pyridine] and [PtCl2(H2dpt)]PtCl4 [dpt=5,6-diphenyl-3-(2- pyridyl)-1,2,4-triazine] have been prepared and structurally characterized. Both neutral and ionic complexes are present, with bifunctional Pt(II) moieties, whose size and shape enable them to behave as novel scaffolds for DNA binding.
A monumental schola discovered on the Boulevard Frédéric-Latouche in Augustodunum/Autun (Saône-et-Loire)

In 2011, an archaeological evaluation was carried out in the centre of the Roman city of Augustodunum (Autun) on a plot of over 1 ha. This operation afforded the opportunity to explore parts of two insulae along the main street, the so-called cardo maximus, an area that has benefited from recent advances in knowledge. The first insula hosts a high-status domus strongly resembling those of "Balbius Iassus" and the "Étui d’Or", excavated in the vicinity in the 1970s; the second, addressed in this paper, contains the remains of a vast monumental complex covering approximately 900 m2.
