Path integral solution for non-linear system enforced by Poisson White Noise

2008

Abstract In this paper the response in terms of probability density function of non-linear systems under Poisson White Noise is considered. The problem is handled via path integral (PI) solution that may be considered as a step-by-step solution technique in terms of probability density function. First the extension of the PI to the case of Poisson White Noise is derived, then it is shown that at the limit when the time step becomes an infinitesimal quantity the Kolmogorov–Feller (K–F) equation is fully restored enforcing the validity of the approximations made in obtaining the conditional probability appearing in the Chapman Kolmogorov equation (starting point of the PI). Spectral counterpa…

Theoretical study of new acceptor and donor molecules based on polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

2011

Functionalized polcyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are an interesting class of molecules in which the electronic state of the graphene-like hydrocarbon part is tuned by the functional group. Searching for new types of donor and acceptor molecules, a set of new PAHs has recently been investigated experimentally using ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS). In this work, the electronic structure of the PAHs is studied numerically with the help of B3LYP hybrid density functionals. Using the DELTA-SCF method, electron binding energies have been determined which affirm, specify and complement the UPS data. Symmetry properties of molecular orbitals are analyzed for a categorization and a…

Early modern maritime insurance between mercantile customs and ius commune

2020

High spatial resolution analysis of the iron oxidation state in silicate glasses using the electron probe

2018

The iron oxidation state in silicate melts is important for understanding their physical properties, although it is most often used to estimate the oxygen fugacity of magmatic systems. Often high spatial resolution analyses are required, yet the available techniques, such as μrXANES and μMössbauer, require synchrotron access. The flank method is an electron probe technique with the potential to measure Fe oxidation state at high spatial resolution but requires careful method development to reduce errors related to sample damage, especially for hydrous glasses. The intensity ratios derived from measurements on the flanks of FeLα and FeLβ X-rays (FeLβf/FeLαf) over a time interval (time-depend…

Levels of self-consistency in the GW approximation

2009

We perform $GW$ calculations on atoms and diatomic molecules at different levels of self-consistency and investigate the effects of self-consistency on total energies, ionization potentials and on particle number conservation. We further propose a partially self-consistent $GW$ scheme in which we keep the correlation part of the self-energy fixed within the self-consistency cycle. This approximation is compared to the fully self-consistent $GW$ results and to the $G W_0$ and the $G_0W_0$ approximations. Total energies, ionization potentials and two-electron removal energies obtained with our partially self-consistent $GW$ approximation are in excellent agreement with fully self-consistent $…

HLA typing from RNA-Seq sequence reads.

2012

We present a method, seq2HLA, for obtaining an individual's human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class I and II type and expression using standard next generation sequencing RNA-Seq data. RNA-Seq reads are mapped against a reference database of HLA alleles, and HLA type, confidence score and locus-specific expression level are determined. We successfully applied seq2HLA to 50 individuals included in the HapMap project, yielding 100% specificity and 94% sensitivity at a P-value of 0.1 for two-digit HLA types. We determined HLA type and expression for previously un-typed Illumina Body Map tissues and a cohort of Korean patients with lung cancer. Because the algorithm uses standard RNA-Seq reads and …

EVALUATION OF OOCYTE QUALITY IN GRANULOSA AND CUMULUS CELLS OF PATIENTS UNDERGOING PMA

2019

Background. We investigate the apoptosis rate of individual granulosa cell–oocyte and cumulus cell–oocyte (COC), associated with the levels of molecules playing a critical role in the regulation of cell death or survival. These molecular analyses have been done to verify the difference of competence between oocytes producing embryos able to reach the blastocyst stage compared with embryos arrested during the in vitro culture. Methods. From each single follicle: granulosa cells were processed for Western blotting analyses, using the following antibodies: pAKT, ERK 1/2, pERK 1/2; cumulus cells were used for in situ immunofluorescence with the same antibodies. DNA fragmentation rate was measur…
