OBJECTIVE Rocuronium is a new non-depolarising steroidal muscle relaxant with a short onset time. The present study was undertaken to compare intubating conditions as well as onset and clinical duration of a single dose of 0.6 mg/kg (2 x ED95) with a single dose of 1 mg/kg suxamethonium (3 x ED95). METHODS After obtaining informed consent and approval of the Ethics Committee, 40 adult patients (ASA I-III) participated in this study. Abstract For the majority of families affected by one of the neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses (NCLs), a biochemical and/or genetic diagnosis can be achieved. In an individual case this information not only increases understanding of the condition but also may influence treatment choices and options. The presenting clinical features prompt initial investigation and also guide clinical care. The clinical labels “infantile NCL”, “late infantile NCL” and “juvenile NCL”, therefore remain useful in practice. Adenohipofīzes adenomas ir labdabīgi intrakraniāli endokrīnie audzēji ar potenciāli augstu prevalenci populācijā. To rašanās rezultātā pacientiem var attīstīties plaša spektra veselības problēmas. Bakalaura darbā veikta adenohipofīzes adenomu šūnu izpēte, analizējot to proliferāciju un saistību ar CNS. Darba gaitā tika konstatētas dažādas CNS cilmes šūnām raksturīgās īpašības adenomu paraugos.

B and T lymphocytes are affected in lysosomal disorders--an immunoelectron microscopic study.

Circulating lymphocytes of four patients with mucopolysaccharidoses II and IIIA, four patients with juvenile neuronal ceroid-lipofuscinosis, one patient each with glycogenosis type II, infantile neuronal ceroid-lipofuscinosis, and Gaucher disease were classified by immunoelectron microscopy as B or T lymphocytes. Disease-specific lysosomal inclusions as well as non-specific lysosomal organelles, especially Gall bodies were identified in B and T lymphocytes. These non-quantitative studies indicate that both B and T lymphocytes participate in the lysosomal storage process.

Hipofīzes neiroendokrīno audzēju raksturīgo mikro RNS identificēšana un izpēte pacientu plazmā

Cirkulējošās plazmas mikro RNS (miRNS) ir plaši pētīts biomarķieris ļaundabīgo audzēju diagnostikā, bet saistībā ar hipofīzes neiroendokrīnajiem audzējiem (PitNET) tās ir maz izpētītas. Darbā, izmantojot nākamās paaudzes sekvencēšanu, tika analizētas miRNS izmaiņas pacientu plazmas paraugos pirms un 24 stundas pēc ekstirpācijas, kā arī novērtēts miRNS saturs plazmā no pacienta, kuram tika veikta bilaterālā inferioro petrozālo sinusu katetrizācija (BIPSS). Pirms un pēc ekstirpācijas cirkulējošo miRNS sastāvs tika analizētas 34 pacientos un diferenciālekspresijas analīzē statistiski būtiskas izmaiņas (P < 0,05) 24 stundas pēc PitNET ekstirpācijas tika detektētas 22 miRNS, no kurām 15 bija aug…
