Verbi locativi in italiano come varianti di verbi supporto

2021

Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) complications: what diagnostic radiologists should know

2022

Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) is an effective therapy for portal hypertension complications and can successfully treat variceal bleeding and refractory ascites. Although TIPS is relatively safe, procedural- or shunt-related morbidity can reach 20%, and procedural complications have a fatality rate of 2%. Delayed recognition and treatment of TIPS complications can lead to life-threatening clinical scenarios. Complications can vary from stent migration or malpositioning to nontarget organ injury, TIPS dysfunction, encephalopathy, or liver failure. This review aims to outline the role of diagnostic radiology in assessing post-TIPS complications.[GRAPHICS].

Acute and reversible Pisa syndrome as unusual presentation of portosystemic encephalopathy

2020

Abstract We present the first case of acute and reversible Pisa Syndrome, as a clinical manifestation of a portosystemic encephalopathy bout occurring in a patient affected with cirrhosis and clinical-radiological signs of acquired hepatocerebral degeneration, without exposure to psychotropic medications. A 62 year-old man suffering from cirrhosis was admitted to our hospital for sudden onset of mild confusion and postural change. He was observed walking and standing with a tilt toward the right during the last two hours. On neurological examination, he showed bilateral asterixis and extrapyramidal signs. Clinical diagnosis of Pisa Syndrome was made in a setting of raised serum ammonia. A b…

Raised serum Interleukin-6 identifies patients with liver cirrhosis at high risk for overt hepatic encephalopathy

2019

BACKGROUND Systemic inflammation is a driving force for the development of hepatic encephalopathy and recent studies demonstrated that elevated Interleukin-6 (IL-6) serum levels are associated with the presence of minimal hepatic encephalopathy in patients with liver cirrhosis. AIM To test the hypothesis that IL-6 is a suitable marker to identify patients with liver cirrhosis at high risk for the development of overt hepatic encephalopathy. METHODS 201 patients were included into this prospective cohort study and were followed for a mean time of 322 days. Covert hepatic encephalopathy was diagnosed according to the West-Haven criteria (hepatic encephalopathy grade 1) and with the portosyste…

TIPS for Prevention of Recurrent Bleeding in Patients with Cirrhosis: Meta-analysis of Randomized Clinical Trials

1999

To compare the effects of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) creation with those of endoscopic treatment with or without propranolol administration (i.e, conventional treatment) on recurrent bleeding, encephalopathy, and mortality by using meta-analysis of 11 published randomized clinical trials.Data from 11 relevant studies were retrieved by means of computerized and manual search. The combinability of the studies was assessed in terms of clinical and statistical criteria. Data were extracted on the basis of the intention-to-treat principle, and treatment effects were measured as risk differences between TIPS creation and conventional treatment. Pooled estimates were comp…

Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt for Refractory Ascites: A Meta-analysis of Individual Patient Data

2007

Several randomized controlled trials have compared a transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) with large-volume paracentesis in cirrhotic patients with refractory ascites. Although all agree that TIPS reduces the recurrence rate of ascites, survival is controversial. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of TIPS and large-volume paracentesis in cirrhotic patients with refractory ascites by means of meta-analysis of individual patient data from 4 randomized controlled trials. The study population consisted of 305 patients: 149 allocated to TIPS and 156 to paracentesis. Cumulative probabilities of transplant-free survival and of hepatic encephalopathy (HE) were estimated…

Clinical implications of the hyperdynamic syndrome in cirrhosis.

2014

Abstract The hyperdynamic syndrome is a late consequence of portal hypertension in cirrhosis. The principal hemodynamic manifestations of the hyperdynamic syndrome are high cardiac output, and increased heart rate and total blood volume, accompanied by reduced total systemic vascular resistance. Pathophysiology involves a complex of humoral and neural mechanisms that can determine hemodynamic changes, and lead to hyperdynamic circulation. In this review we focus our attention on the manifestations of the hyperdynamic syndrome. Some of these are well described and directly related to portal hypertension (varices, ascites, hepatic encephalopathy, and hepatorenal syndrome), while others, such …

WPŁYW PANDEMII COVID-19 NA FUNKCJONOWANIE REGIONALNEGO TRANSPORTU KOLEJOWEGO OBSZARÓW PRZYGRANICZNYCH – NA PRZYKŁADZIE WOJEWÓDZTWA DOLNOŚLĄSKIEGO (PL…

2021

Do najczęstszych obostrzeń zaliczyć można: ograniczenie liczby połączeń, zmniejszenie limitu pasażerów w pojeździe, ograniczenie siatki połączeń komunikacyjnych. W analizie autorzy przeprowadzili badanie województwa dolnośląskiego oraz kraju libereckiego w kontekście zmian w funkcjonowaniu region…

Infrastructura Naturans. Architetture di trasformazione della circonvallazione di Palermo

2022

The article discusses the theoretical system that supports design themes and processes of recycling large urban road infrastructures, referring to an international research that frames them among the sustainable regeneration processes of the contemporary city, and further evoking the project for the transformation of Palermo's ring road that has been elaborated within this research. Witnesses of past urban seasons, these infrastructures are marked by a peculiar morphology that deserves to be maintained, while they must emancipate themselves from asphalt and adapt to new urban mobilities. By hybridizing vegetation and buildings as never before, the longest roadways in our urban contexts may …

Settore ICAR/14 - Composizione Architettonica E Urbana

Materia, qualità, organismo. LA FILOSOFIA SCHELLINGHIANA DELLA NATURA E IL PRIMO SORGERE DELLA FILOSOFIA DELL’IDENTITÀ

2011
