Predictive First-principles Modeling of a Photosynthetic Antenna Protein : The Fenna-Matthews-Olson Complex

High efficiency of light harvesting in photosynthetic pigment-protein complexes is governed by evolutionary-perfected protein-assisted tuning of individual pigment properties and inter-pigment interactions. Due to the large number of spectrally overlapping pigments in a typical photosynthetic complex, experimental methods often fail to unambiguously identify individual chromophore properties. Here we report a first principles-based modeling protocol capable of predicting properties of pigments in protein environment to a high precision. As an emerging nanotechnology, quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) has been considered an alternative to CMOS technology that suffers from problems such as leakage current. Moreover, QCA is suitable for multi-valued logic due to the simplicity of implementing fuzzy logic in a way much easier than CMOS technology. Hyaluronic acid (HA) forms pericellular coats in many cell types that are involved in the early stages of cell adhesion by interacting with the CD44 receptor. Based on the largely recognized overexpression of the CD44 receptor in tumor tissues, a polybenzofulvene molecular brush has been enveloped into hyaluronan shells to obtain a tri-component polymer brush (TCPB) composed of intrinsically fluorescent backbones bearing nona(ethylene glycol) arms terminated with low molecular weight HA macromolecules. Embeddings of Danielewski hypersurfaces

In this thesis, we study a class of hypersurfaces in $\mathbb{C}^3$, called \emph{Danielewski hypersurfaces}. This means hypersurfaces $X_{Q,n}$ defined by an equation of the form $x^ny=Q(x,z)$ with $n\in\mathbb{N}_{\geq1}$ and $\deg_z(Q(x,z))\geq2$. We give their complete classification, up to isomorphism, and up to equivalence via an automorphism of $\mathbb{C}^3$. In order to do that, we introduce the notion of standard form and show that every Danielewski hypersurface is isomorphic (by an algorithmic procedure) to a Danielewski hypersurface in standard form. The purpose of the present study was to examine the effect of different conditioning activities (CAs) on short-term increase in sprint performance. In twelve male sprinters (21.1+2.6 years, 100 m performance: 11.5+0.6 s) their body composition, half squat maximum strength, 100 m sprinting and countermovement jump performances were evaluated. W części pierwszej zaprezentowano znaczenie rodziny w zwiększaniu skuteczności szkolnych oddziaływań profilaktycznych. W dalszej części zaprezentowano związki między budowaniem współpracy rodzic-nauczyciel a koncepcją profilaktyki pozytywnej. Normalized Solutions to the Fractional Schrödinger Equation with Potential

AbstractThis paper is concerned with the existence of normalized solutions to a class of Schrödinger equations driven by a fractional operator with a parametric potential term. We obtain minimization of energy functional associated with that equations assuming basic conditions for the potential. Our work offers a partial extension of previous results to the non-local case.
