In this paper, the effects of air tightness tests on steel box structures with rectangular or circular cross sections typical of port cranes (legs, arms, and crosspieces) are analyzed. Legs and arms are generally made with elements with profiles having a square or rectangular cross section, while the diagonal struts are made with profiles having circular cross sections. To verify the air tightness of these elements, a necessary requirement to protect them from corrosion if they are not protected with other protection techniques, air tightness tests are performed. Occurrence and risk assessment of mycotoxins, acrylamide, and furan in Latvian beer.

This work reports data on the occurrence of nine mycotoxins and two food processing contaminants - acrylamide and furan - in a total of 100 beers produced in Latvia. Mycotoxins were detected by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled with time-of-flight mass spectrometry, acrylamide by HPLC coupled with quadrupole-Orbitrap mass spectrometry, and furan by headspace gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The most frequently occurring mycotoxins were HT-2 and deoxynivalenol (DON), which were detected in 52% and 51% of the analysed samples. High-Pressure Phase Diagram and Superionicity of Alkaline Earth Metal Difluorides

We study the high-pressure–high-temperature phase diagram and superionicity of alkaline earth metal (AEM) difluorides (AF2, A = Ca, Sr, Ba) with first-principles simulation methods. We find that the superionic behavior of SrF2 and BaF2 at high pressures differ appreciably from that previously reported for CaF2 [Phys. Rev. Lett. 2014, 113, 235902]. Specifically, the critical superionic temperature of SrF2 and BaF2 in the low-pressure cubic fluorite phase is not reduced by effect of compression, and the corresponding high-pressure orthorhombic contunnite phases become superionic at elevated temperatures. Observation of chemical reactions between alkaline-earth oxides and tungsten at high pressure and high temperature

Abstract The potential chemical reactions of alkaline-earth oxides (AeO with Ae: Mg, Ca, Sr, and Ba) and tungsten are studied at high pressure and high temperature. At pressures ranging from 5 to 10 GPa and temperatures of 2000 K, a noticeable reaction between AeO and powder tungsten (W) was detected. As a product of the reaction, scheelite-structured orthotungstates (AeWO 4 ) were formed. The reactivity of alkaline-earth oxides with tungsten increases in the order Ca 2 →AeWO 4 .

New, consistent vapor−liquid equilibrium data for the binary systems 2,3-dimethylpentane + methyl 1,1-dimethylethyl ether, + diisopropyl ether, and + methyl 1,1-dimethylpropyl ether are reported at 101.3 kPa. The measured systems deviate slightly from ideal behavior, and only the system methyl 1,1-dimethylpropyl ether + 2,3-dimethylpentane presents an azeotrope. The activity coefficients for the solutions were correlated with their compositions by the Wilson, UNIQUAC, and NRTL models. Wisniak−Tamir equations were used to correlate the boiling points of the solutions with their compositions.
Comparison of the activity, selectivity and decay properties of lay and hyultrastable zeolites during the cracking of alkanes

Abstract The cracking of n-heptane on LaY ultrastable zeolite has been studied in a continuous glass flow reactor, at atmospheric pressure, up to 470°C. The initial selectivity to cracking, isomerization and disproportionation, kinetic rate constants, activation energies and decay parameters have been calculated and compared with those obtained using a HY ultrastable zeolite as a catalyst. It has been found that the HY ultrastable zeolite is about 7 times more active for cracking, and about 10 times more active for isomerization and disproportionation than the LaY ultrastable zeolite. Studies of the physiological response of human half-body illumination by a specially designed bed comprising large number of LEDs emitting in the red and near infrared spectral range were carried out in a group of 32 volunteers comprising healthy subjects and hypertension patients. Blood pressure, heart rate and arterial blood oxygen saturation, as well as the bed surface temperature were continuously monitored during the measurement sessions with and without aluminum foil cover on the bed surface.
